So it is looking increasingly likely that Gareth Bale is set to become the world's most expensive football transfer from Spurs to Real Madrid. Opinions on this?
I'm personally not so happy with this in a way. Sure a player of his quality is going to be going places, but the prospect of seeing him playing alongside Soldado/Paulinho and possibly Lamela (Willian's pretty much off to Chelsea) was a rather exciting one.
There's a nagging feeling I have that he may end up being less of a regular than he is at Tottenham. I think Modric isn't a first team regular...but with his skill, and the fact that the world record transfer fee is set to be broken eases that a little.
A mixed bag for me I guess.
With so many clubs and the vast majority of Spaniards out of work/in financial ruin the amount of money being spent makes a complete mockery of everything that's going on.
Messi isn't even worth that much.
£86million
that's absolutely shocking.
He's gone for 83.3 million. Absolutely ridiculous.
£85.3m apparently, but you probably meant to say 85.3m.
However, the wages he is expected to get are just bloody ridiculous. He is due to receive £15.4 MILLION a year! That's about £34 a minute or nearly 57p a second. Jeez, it seems you now earn money for every breath you take. I'll leave it to you to figure out his weekly wage...
Bale's starting to prove he's worth it
It was a deal worth the money for Real Madrid, it's not like he'll make a loss for them
