Smogon has announced that, as of now, Ubers is no longer just a banlist, but is its own tier (http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/ubers-is-now-a-tier-a-new-metagame-called-anything-goes-is-added-m-ray-is-banned-from-ubers.3523205/). It will still serve as a banlist for OU as it always has, but now that we have 50 Ubers, it will be treated as a tier, and attempt minor balance issues to make it more enjoyable to those that want to play with these overpowered Pokemon.
The first of these Uber bans comes in the form of Mega Rayquaza, which should be understandable to anyone that has ever seen Mega Rayquaza. 105/180/100/180/100/115 base stats with the ability to hold an item is insane. It's not a stretch to say that Mega Rayquaza is the single best and most dangerous Pokemon in the game, and banning it from Ubers is certainly making the tier more playable.
However, this is sure to cause some contention, and as such, Smogon has introduces a new tier: Anything Goes. This is what it sounds like: no bans or restrictions whatsoever, except for Infinite Battle Clause, which should be obvious.
What do you think about this decision? Are you ready to complain about Smogon for anything they do? Are you happy now that you have a tier where you can do anything you want in theory, but will still get wrecked by Mega Rayquaza? Discuss!
It was pretty necessary at this point. I read the entire rationale and agree with it; Ubers was originally anything goes but there was a sense of order amongst the chaos that made it its own metagame. Mega Rayquaza would've made it beyond ridiculous.
Ok, maybe this means that Mega Gengar will finally be unusable in ubers.
Übers games p much came down to whoever killed the opposing M-Ray first wins, because it wrecks everything else, so this is definitely a good move.
I personally would've preferred just it's item slot being restricted so it's at least still usable, but eh this works too.
I just love how MegaQuaza can theoretically go mixed but has literally no reason to when the physical variant can still smash through Slowbro xD
Anything goes is just Darkrai: The Metagame because no sleep clause
More like Darkrai The Metagame 2: Wrath of M-Quaza.
The way that Mega Rayquaza just sweeps is absolutely crazy. SD LO makes it the single most powerful thing out there, and it is able to wipe Primal Groudon, one heck of a physically bulky beast, clean off the map without any trouble - as well as everything else. It doesn't even need EQ to do it. Setting up is absolutely no trouble, witnessed first hand if you use dual screens alongside an amazing ability in Delta Stream.
I'm definitely trying AG with MRay xD
Have fun with SwagPlay though! I'll not be touching AG, it sounds like unbearable chaos. More power to those that can handle that sort of thing though, I'm sure many people will love this kind of tier.

Like me.
*Maniacal laughter ensues*
Yeah, this seems perfectly reasonable to me. Hopefully this will stop people whining about Mega Gengar as he goes and gets booted off as well. I don't think Shadow Tag is powerful enough an ability on its own to be worth banning it in OU and Ubers, since Gothitelle isn't a huge issue, but if you can just get rid of Gengarite that's fine.
The best thing was the usage for November (Despite not being a long time) I found this funny. I totally understand why swag play's good. It just made me chuckle. A massive raging dragon and a set of keys.
AG
1. Rayquaza
2. Klefki
Honestly, I understand why they banned mega ray from ubers. It's completely op, I mean I 6-0'd a guy just using mega ray.
