Title: Pokemon Ruby, What should I get?
Post by: The name master on April 28, 2016, 14:16
I'm playing Pokémon Ruby.

My team is (when fully evolved):

Swampert

Pelipper

Migthyena

Groudon

Latios

I was thinking of having a Gardevoir or a Beautifly.

Do you have any other suggestions?

RULES:

Nothing I can only get through a trade.

Gen 3 pokemon ONLY!

Also, if you could also suggest two other pokemon until I get Latios and Groudon, that'd be great! ;)

remove pelipper - kind of useless in that gen if i remember. mightena isnt the best, but is alright. rest ok. add gardevoir, manectric, shroomish, skarmory, staryu, or whismur

focus on building up your type coverage. groundon and latios are good picks, but if latios is roaming save your master ball for that if you struggle with roamers. groundon can be zerged down and caught with pokeball spam... eventually

remove pelipper
It's better than Swellow!

skarmory
I said gen 3 pokemon ONLY!

staryu
I don't think I can get staryu in ruby, and again about gen 3 pokemon ONLY!

latios is roaming save your master ball for that
Of course I would do that!

groundon can be zerged down and caught with pokeball spam... eventually
Nah, I'll just use cheat codes!  >:D

beautifly is trash don't use it
What do you suggest, then?

Skarmory can be found in both Ruby and Sapphire on Route 113, they are rare though.
Staryu can also be found in both Ruby and Sapphire, by fishing at Lilycove City.

But skarmory is gen 2 and staryu is gen 1! I only want pokemon that first appear in gen 3!

How about Aggron till I get Groudon?

replace mightyena with shiftry
instead of pelipper for your flying pokemon use swellow until you can evolve an altaria
add aggron

I've decided that I'm having Swampert, Mightyena, Pelipper, Groudon and Latios and I'm NOT asking for suggestions for replacements, I'm asking what my 6th pokemon should be and what pokemon I should have until I get Groudon and Latios.

I'm keeping those pokemon I've mentioned above and they're going to stay there!

swellow's stats are better than pellipers, and pelliper is only really useful if you dont have a water type (SWAMPERT) already. all of the pokemon i suggested are available in gen 3 and are native to hoenn, unless you mean pokemon introduced to that gen only. it limits you, but it is... okay for a themed run, i guess.

otherwise what the others said will do - aggron for groundon 'til you get groundon, shiftry instead of mightyena, and swellow until you get altaria. after that, grab yourself a snorunt (i think snorunt is gen 3, anyway) once you get yourself latios, and then you've got a glailie.

EDIT: new reply came in. just choose whatever you want then i guess as you could beat the E4 with almost anything

YES! Finally! Someone has understood what I want!

Is the second or third time I've said that I'm doing NO swapping?

Do I need to explain it simpler?

I have swampert, mightyena, pelipper

These are the pokemon I want and don't want to replace!

I want a groudon and a latios, but what should I get until I can get those two pokemon?

And I have one extra space for one more pokemon. What pokemon should go in that space?

refer to quote if you're not doing any swapping and only wanted one. just something that doesnt use the already used types i guess

otherwise people have already suggested stuff

i mean if you don't wanna switch out pokemon for better ones then you might as well throw a luvdisc in your 6th slot cause if you level anything enough during the main plotline it will eventually be useful.

I was thinking of getting a manectric until I get a latios. What do you think?

I was also thinking of getting a seviper as my sixth pokemon.

I'll tell you what I'll do, just because I'm a nice guy, I'll switch my wingull for a taillow. How does that sound?

you don't have to we were just trying to give you good advice lol

manectric is one of my favorites but he's really kinda sucky. he gets killed really quickly and doesn't hit exceptionally hard. seviper is a one-stager, so it's pretty much worse than manectric stats-wise

but what's cool is you can have whatever team you want and you can make it work as long as you level them. some pokemon are just better than others but you can make whatever team you'd like for a playthrough and it will be just fine. so pick whatever pokemon you think is cool if that's what's important to you.

I've decided to have swampert, Mightyena, swellow, shiftry, groudon (torkoal temporarily until I get it) and latios (altaria temporarily until I get it)
