You may now disable the filter. But the rules (http://pkmn.net/rules) are still in place for swearing and you must still follow them.
Have fun with your pretty words for your roleplays. ;)
I'm going to keep mine ON so I can spot bad words more easily and CRUSH them.
good work though guys
Ohh, so the filter was only removed to allow words like "wistful" and "salt**ter" to be written properly?
Oh that's much better news =] thanks guys!
EDIT: yeah I'm definitely turning it off, my post looks alarming with it on xD
So we can keep words uncensored but still can't swear?
I have a suggestion here: swearing is allowed, but can be used with moderation. Obviously, ridiculous amounts of swearing is bad, but a couple words here and there never hurt anyone.
Not to sound stupid but how exactily do we turn off the filter?

I think the option to disable swears was mainly for what Dragonpika and CrystalScizor said. Still a 3+ site we're on, isn't it?
Profile -> Look and Layout Preferences.

Words killed my parents.
On a serious note, erm I'll see if this ever has any relevance to me eventually I suppose.

Okay thanks, I'll change it now.

Yeah, but the young 'un's parents who know about this site could argue otherwise. What Xagor said, I think?
Almost forgot to mention, sometimes HTMLs from, say, Imageshack, scrawl out crazy random letters that just happen to spell out an abbreviation and/or swear, which can mess up the link. Or was that fixed before this?
Also, wouldn't turning off the filter undo the effects of countering violations of Rule 4? Just wondering.
EDIT: Ah, see here, it even says it in the rules now:
Quote from: PKMN Rule 17The filter may be turned off in your profile, but this is to allow words that would otherwise be broken by the filter to be accepted and should not be abused.
Well, moderators should be the ones enforcing rules, not swear censors.

That is true. I wonder if a practical solution is to include a list of naughty words somewhere.

They help the members know which words are disallowed. Mods do enforce the rules, otherwise the word would be censored and that would be that.
He was referring to the censoring of the name of a certain "rival" website that would fall under the advertising rule anyway.
Well, I WAS trying to be vague about it... ::)
I misremembered what rule four was.
I thought it was swearing.
<- Class A* Mod person.
The rules have not changed. What you can and cannot do or say has not changed. The only thing that has changed is that you can, if you wish, disable part of the enforcement of those rules. This does not happen by default, and it does not make it alright to do those things.
Well I won't be abusing it, but it can be helpful when talking about football, because there could be some "Sc**thorpe" fans out there, as well as a few other words that can be affected by it.
Thanks for this.
I have a question, if you can turn off your own filter, would, as persay, someone with it on be able to see the swear or not?
No, they still cannot see it.
Ah, That explains it. Thank you!
