The wonderful title screen!

Well, what is there to say? It's so much like Pokemon Red and Blue there's only small things to add! Being serious though, if you've got Red and Blue, don't get Yellow unless you're a serious Pokemon fan, or you can't be bothered to use a link cable whilst trying to get all 150 Pokemon. But, lets go over what it DOES have. Let's see, now. First of all, it's more linked to the TV show, which is good for younger children who found it hard to get used to Red and Blue because they watched the TV show all the time and it was not really anything like Red and Blue.

The more you use Pikachu in battle and the longer you are with him, the happier he gets. You can tell this by turning round to Pikachu and pressing the A button. This brings up a small window on the center of the screen with Pikachu's face in it and he'll give you an expression of some kind. When you first get him, he won't be best pleased with you, but as you use him more in battle and as you walk around with him more and more, he becomes happier and happier, until he finally beams at you with a huge smile on his face, which is very relevant to the TV show.

You also have the benefit in Pokemon Yellow of having different missing Pokémon- this means you don't have to plea with your friends to give you that Dratini or that Scytherthat they could catch and you couldn't. (Personally, I just nicked my brothers Game Boy and cartridge and traded all the ones I needed when he was in bed!) The other feature that brings it closer to the TV show is the fact that Jessie and James, from Team Rocket, now make an appearance in the game. The graphics of most of the Pokemon were improved greatly, so that Pikachu actually looked like a Pikachu in the Pokédex, rather than just a fat mouse. But you could argue, that because the game came out first, that the graphics in Red and Blue are right, and the TV show is wrong? I guess that's a matter of personal opinion. So, as a game on the whole, its good because its Pokemon, but as a sequel to Red and Blue, its not as good as Silver and Gold are!
