Pokémon Green Overview :: Red, Blue and Yellow Data

Behold: the game that started it all! Only ever released in Japan, Pokemon Green, along with Pokemon Red, were the first two ever Pokemon games released. Blue followed within a few short months, and the phenomenon began! But, when Red and Blue travelled the ocean to new lands, their friend Green decided to stay on dry land. But why? Well, we don't have a clue, but if you do, please email us at pokedude@pkmn.net and tell us why! Other than that, there's really not much else to tell. Its just really another game that goes along with Red and Blue. But, I can give you some screenshots, which you'll probably recognise from Pokemon Red and Blue...

As you can see, it is very much the same as Red and Blue. So don't waste your money trying to import it! (Unless your a serious collector!).

I own Green, and a Japanese Red, and they're exactly the same as the US Red/Blue, except that the overworld tiles look slightly different, most Pokemon sprites look worse, and of course, the text is in japanese. Also Ditto CANNOT be found in the Rock Tunnel, and Lickitung CANNOT be found in the wild. Arg, why do most sites say that? I'm glad this doesn't mention it.

Some of the Pokemon in green look.. deformed... like Alakazam. I like the Ninetales sprite for it, though.

Actually, the sites that talk about ditto in rock tunnel and wild lickitung are about the japanese blue.

Wrong Charizard. Japan Red/ Green are the exact same as Red/ Blue everywhere else. Japan Blue is very different than their Red and Green.

The reason that Green was never released outside of Japan is because it was simpler to translate the Japanese Blue version.
