Generation 3+ content: Natures | List and effects of the natures that crop up from the third generation onwards

Now you may have come across something in the Pokémon games called Natures, and wondered what they actually do. For each nature, you'll find that they either have an effect on the stats of the Pokémon, such as Hasty, or they'll have no effect, such as Hardy. The mechanics behind them are fairly simple, actually. Below is a table, colour coded to resemble how they're displayed in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver.

Should a nature affect your stats, you'll find that it'll increase the relevant stat by 10% of what it normally would be, and reduce the relevant stat by 10% of what it normally would be. So, for instance, you've got a Salamence that'd have 300 Attack with a Hardy nature, if it had an Adamant nature it'd have 330 Attack instead. Quite the increase.

You may also notice the columns regarding Berries. Should you give a Pokémon a Pokéblock or a Poffin that it likes, you'll find that it'll experience a sharper increase in that stat when fed the Block/Poffin. Similarly, if you feed a Pokémon a Pokéblock/Poffin that's typing is what it dislikes, you'll see the growth isn't as impressive as normal.

Thanks to TG-Espio and CrystalScizor10 for this!

I just noticed something! I feel so slow. >.< The stat that gets lowered is the corresponding flavor that the pokemon dislikes.

So to have a pokemon with no effected changes to its stats it would have to be Bashful, Docile, Hardy, Quirky, or Serious. Lame.

i know right, i always thought that nice guys finish last, and only the good die young, and i can see thats true for docile natured pokemon, they dont get any benefits from the nature, being docile/nice that is.
