Diamond, Pearl and Platinum Pokémon: Arceus | Page about the supposed God of all Pokémon

ArceusIn the beginning, Arceus created the heaven and the Earth. Then he said "Dodogyuuun!" which roughly translates to "Let there be light!" (Wait - does that mean that Arceus created the heaven and the earth in the dark?). Then Arceus created the reason you are browsing this jolly little intarwebz page. Pokémon. And then he created humans last because he didn't really like them, the reason being that his mates Dialga and Palkia told him of an ancient prophecy foretelling that a group of wise shamans known as Nintendo would later not include him in two games called Diamond and Pearl. And then everyone on Earth got on fine and they all lived happily ever after.

The above paragraph has absolutely nothing at all to do with this guide.

In this guide, I am going to teach you about the Pokémon Arceus.

Arceus is #493 in the National Dex, the last of all of them. It is only available via an event, cheating or hacking. Bloody Nintendo. To get the required item, the Azure Flute you must have Mystery Gift enabled. You can't just use your beloved Action Replay to get the Azure Flute put in your inventory and hope that this'll work.

DISCLAIMER: Please don't send me requests for Arceus codes for Action Replay. I DON'T HAVE AN ACTION REPLAY! Please don't ask me to send you an Arceus either because it's not like I have any spare gods of all creation lying around. I don't promote or encourage the use of cheat devices. That's just how I roll. There are a fair few available if you ask in the forums however.

Sorry I had to go through all of that. Now we can finally get to finding and capturing this glorious being!

Finding Arceus

OK, so once you have received your Mystery Gift, go to any mart and there should be a guy in a green suit. Talk to him and he will give you the Azure Flute. After this go to the Spear Pillar at the top of Mt. Coronet (You'll need Surf and Rock Climb as well as a couple of other HMs to get to the top. I recommend a Bibarel because it can learn Cut, Rock Smash, Surf, Waterfall, Rock Climb and Strength, making it extremely useful outside of battle). Once you're at the Spear Pillar the game will prompt you, asking if you would like to blow into the Azure Flute. Click yes and the music will stop and your character will start to play a creepy little song. It really doesn't get much eerier than this. A really cool stairway appears. There is a platform at the top called the Hall Of Origin, where Arceus resides. Be careful though, because once you step on the platform the battle will begin. So if you haven't saved the game, organized your team and done whatever else you need to do by the time you're on the top step, you're screwed.

Battling Arceus

Arceus is Level 80 when you find it. That's the highest level of a wild Pokémon in any game. Unfortunately its moves aren't all that great, but it learns some much better ones so don't worry. It knows Future Sight, Hyper Beam, Recover and Refresh. Start out by throwing some Quick Balls for the first 3 or so turns, although most of the time these will just straight up not work. But give it a try anyway, eh? One good strategy to use is to send out a really weak Pokémon that knows Endeavour. Endeavour is a really great move if you can use it, because it brings down the opponents HP to equal yours. If you use this strategy Arceus' HP should go really low. One important thing to remember with battling any legendary is to gauge the damage you are doing to it, because the last thing you want to do is accidentally knock it out. Use moves that do a fixed amount of damage, like False Swipe, Seismic Toss, Dragon Rage or even something like Sonic Boom. Even on a level 100 you're going to be fine if you use False Swipe as it always leaves it with at least 1HP. Remember it knows Recover however. Putting it to sleep or freezing it would help, although paralysing would not as it knows Refresh. Once you've weakened it just keep lobbing Ultra balls and maybe the odd Timer ball every now and then and you'll eventually catch it. A master ball would help a great deal if you still have it lol.

Other Stuff Congrats, you have now captured the lord of everything that was and ever shall be! Now lets take a look at its stats shall we? All of its base stats are 120, and its max stats are as follows.

Arceus' ability is called Multitype. Remember those odd plates you keep finding that have writing engraved on them? The ones that power up certain types? Well now they have a second use. If you give one to Arceus, it will actually CHANGE its type! Not only that, its appearance will change too! Here are its different forms:

Normal Bug Dark Dragon Electric Fighting Fire Flying Ghost Grass Ground Ice Poison Psychic Rock Steel Water ???

Cool, eh? Please note that the last one is the ??? type Arceus, the type that no Pokémon belongs to and only one move (Curse) uses. However there is no plate for the ??? type. This form was only programmed into the game, and it's unknown, and unlikely that this form of Arceus will ever be possible to obtain.

As well as having Multitype, at level 100 (yes, 100!) Arceus learns the very powerful, and extremely cool move Judgement. Judgement is very much like Multitype, as it also changes type depending on your Arceus' held plate. This move is incredibly useful, as the plates already boost the power of their corresponding types by 20%. So for example, if you're battling a Swellow, and your Arceus is holding the Zap plate, your judgement attack will be doing a lot of damage. A LOT.

Well that's about everything. This has been LIQUID LIVES, your guide to the world of Sinnoh!
