Each Pokémon region has it's own famous boat, responsible for transporting trainers and Pokémon around the region. In Unova this boat is called the Royal Unova.

As soon as you defeat the Pokémon League and subsequently receive the National Dex then the Royal Unova will become accessible from its port in Castelia City. It costs 1,000 to sail on the Royal Unova and sails once per day, only departing within a certain block which varies between seasons:

The boat travels along the Castelia City seafront, under the Skyarrow Bridge, up towards Marvelous Bridge and then back towards Castelia City. As soon as this journey is complete your boat journey will end, so you will only have a limited time to explore the ship per journey. Alternatively, you can climb onto the top deck and watch the journey. It's a rather nice, 3D animation actually.

But the main reason you will want to come here are the trainers. They will rebattle you every day and will sometimes give you items for beating them. The items they will give you vary randomly between Berry Juice, Lava Cookie, Old Gateau, Ragecandybar and a Rare Candy.

Only 9 different trainers can be found on the Royal Unova. And here they are!
