The Heartbreak of Brock
Moving ever closer to Oliving City, the group need to find a Pokémon Centre to spend the night. Finding a town, they find a local who explains that the nearest Centre is ten miles away. They decide to stay in the town, and Brock retrieves water from a fountain. As he does so, a Nidorina appears to drink from the fountain, followed by her trainer - a girl named Temaku who immediately falls for Brock. After flirting outrageously, Temaku asks her father if the group can stay with them. Her father agrees; he's a Pokémon professor, and their house is full of Pokémon.

Brock struggles to talk to her, and Misty takes him to one side to tell him off. She encourages him to try liking Temaku back, since he's never met someone who's fallen in love with him before.

The next day, Temaku's father explains that the lab is still growing, and that he'll need an assisstant. Temaku suggests that Brock should join, and once again, Brock gets flustered. Again, Misty takes him to one side, and Brock explains that he's not sure whether successful relationships should begin in such a one-sided way. Temaku reveals that she's also raised a Nidorino, which Brock can have - a symbol of their relationship. Suddenly, a net falls on the Nidorino and Nidorina, and Team Rocket make themselves known.

A battles ensues. Totodile easily takes care of Arbok with a Water Gun, but then Weezing uses a Smokescreen attack. By the time Misty's Poliwhirl has gotten rid of the smoke with its Bubble, Team Rocket have escaped in their balloon - taking Temaku with them instead of the Pokémon. She falls madly in love with James. Terrified, James is reminded of Jessebelle (from episode 48 - Holy Matrimony!). Jessie, however, sees an opportunity - if James marries Temaku, they can get hold of her father's Pokémon.

Ash promises Temaku's father that they'll find his daughter, and sends Noctowl to search for the balloon. As they search, Team Rocket arrive at the lab with Temaku in tow, announcing her engagement to James. They claim to have saved her from Team Rocket.

Meanwhile, Noctowl has found the balloon, but it contains only cardboard cut-outs of Team Rocket. Back in the lab, Jessie steals a sack full of Poké Balls; before she can get away, however, Temaku's father leads them into the dining room. As they eat, the group arrives, and Misty recognises Jessie. She makes a swift escape, but Temaku's father realises that she's stolen his Pokéballs.

The chase begins, with Chickorita taking care of Arbok and Weezing while Poliwhirl's Bubble clears a Smokescreen. Temaku tries to defend James by ordering Nidorina to attack Poliwhirl, and Misty has Poliwhirl aim a Water Gun at James - but Poliwhirl misses, and hits Temaku. Chickorita finishes taking care of Arbok and Weezing, while Pikachu and Poliwhirl team up to finish off the Rockets.

Later, with Temaku being cared for by a doctor, her father explains that she attended her cousin's wedding recently, which made her obsessed with weddings. Brock has now decided to pursue Temaku after all, but Temaku prefers the doctor - they agree to get married. Crestfallen, Brock leaves with the gang, speculating about the girls that may be found in the next town.
