Ash loses to Hazuki.

The match between Charizard and Blaziken starts. In the previous episode they've been ordered to use flamethrower and they both do so. The battlefield is covered in smoke and when that fades away we see them staring at each other. Charizard releases another flamethrower but Blaziken avoids it by jumping in the air. Charizard turns around and fires a dragon rage but Blaziken also avoids that by landing back on the floor again. Blaziken then releases its own flamethrower but Charizard flies into the air and avoids the attack. They both use flamethrower again but after a while Blaziken stops and jumps away to avoid getting hit. It uses quick attack on Charizard and then its fire punch in Charizard's face but Charizard doesn't give up. He fires a flamethrower causing a bit damage on Blaziken but when he is about to use quick attack, Charizard grabs Blaziken and flies up in the air and uses seismic toss to throw him on the ground. The referee announces Charizard to be the winner causing Ash to be thrilled.

But Blaziken gets up much to Ash's disappointment. Brock then thinks about the entire battle and realises that Blaziken used flamethrower right before it hit the ground causing that Blaziken doesn't have much damage from Charizard's seismic toss. Blaziken gets up but is exhausted. Blaziken then goes for a quick attack but Charizard uses its flamethrower against Blaziken causing a bit more damage. Charizard is about to do another seismic toss but Blaziken jumps up in the air and uses blaze kick right in Charizard's face. Charizard has trouble with getting up but it does. Blaziken releases flamethrower but Charizard encounters it with dragon rage causing a big explosion. When the smoke fades away it seems like both pokemon have fainted but they are not.

Both Harrison and Ash yell at their pokemon to get up and they get up again. They both seem to have trouble with standing on their feet and every time it seems to be on the edge of falling but when Charizard has to release a flamethrower it collaps on the ground and the round goes to Harrison and Blaziken, leaving Ash behind defeaten but he goes up to Harrison and they shake hands.

Then after the battle, Ash lets go off Squirtle and tells it to train a bit more with Jenny and the other Squirtles. With that Jenny and Squirtle leave on their motor cycle. Delia and prof. Oak then also want to say goodbye and Ash asks why they are leaving. Delia says she left mr. Mime in hold of the housework and Oak says he left Tracey in charge of all the pokemon and he's sure that it could use a break. Oak then quickly asks about Charizard's condition and Ash says it's fine and that tomorrow it will return to Liza. They then say their final goodbyes and Delia and prof. Oak leave.

Team Rocket in the meanwhile has a bit of a difficulty with their costumers. They want refunds but they didn't get the buttons they ordered.

Harrison in the meanwhile is fighing in the semi-finals against John Dixon and they're up to their last pokemon, Rhyhorn and Houndoom. They tackle each other causing Houndoom to faint and the battle goes to John Dixon. The announcer is surprised to see that Harrison didn't use Blaziken and Brock comments that since yesterday's battle, Blaziken was too tired for this battle and that was the reason it didn't use it.

That night, Ash and co drop by Harrison who is sitting at the lake. They tell him that they're sorry for his loss but Harrison says it's okay and that he's glad he made it till the top 4. Ash asks about Blazikena and he tells them that it's doing fine. He then asks Ash if it's correct that he's from Pallet Town where prof. Oak is from. Ash tells he is and Harrison says he would love to go there to travel. He then tells about how he got intrigued about pokemon from his own professor called prof. Birch. He tells Ash and co about prof. Birch and also tells Ash that he should go visit Hoenn to meet new pokemon. Ash says he's excited to visit it one day to look at all the new pokemon. But then a loud scream can be heard.

They check it out and find some girls who tell that they are being taunted by ghosts. Misty tells them those aren't ghosts and Brock asks Ash to send out his Noctowl and so he does. It uses future sight to reveal the Misdreavus that are floating around there. Gary then comes running by and asks Ash what's wrong. Ash tells Gary about the Misdreavus and Gary comments that they seem to be searching for something. They then fly off and they decide to follow the Misdreavus. They find a Misdreavus which is trapped under a tree and together they lift the tree up so the Misdreavus can escape. Gary checks if it's okay and it is and it flies off together with all the other Misdreavus. Misty wonders why this happened and Gary says it's probably because of the commotion around the league. Ash comments that he sure knows a lot about pokemon and Gary tells Ash that he's intrigued by pokemon and their evolutions and that he changed his dream and wants to become a pokemon scientist. Ash is shocked and Gary says goodbye for now to Ash and co.

Ash and co then check out the final Johto League battle and a Rhydon and Rapidash clash onto each other and Rapidash wins announcing that John Dixon won the battle. Brock comments that John Dixon is a though trainer and John Dixon receives the Johto League Triumph.

Team Rocket in the meanwhile, is having buttons again but nobody is there to buy them. Meowth says it's probably because of the fact that the league is over. Then a large group of people storms right at Team Rocket's building. But they're angry because of their previous scam so they hide inside the building. Jesse then turns the building into a mecha and they walk off, surprising all the people.

Gary and Harrison say goodbye to Ash and co. Gary tells Ash that he's heading for Mt. Silver to do some research and Harrison tells them that he is heading to the Indigo Plateau. Then Team Rocket drops by and they start off with their motto. They use a net to capture Pikachu but Gary sends out Blastoise which uses hydro pump to destroy the net. Harrison sends out Blaziken to burn the Team Rocket mecha and Pikachu blasts them off with its thunderbolt.

They now really say goodbye and Gary tells Ash to keep following his dreams and wishes him a lot of luck. Ash wishes him a lot of luck with his studies and Brock and Misty both hope to hear from any of his studies any time soon. They say goodbye and each walk into a different direction and Ash and co head back to Pallet Town now that the league is over.
