Which are the best regions? (Gen 1-7)
« on: May 14, 2017, 03:37 »
Please share your opinion on which is the best region in this 20-year old series of adventure and battles.
We have gone together through the years battling and fighting our way to the championships, caring for and battling with our Pokemon. We adore all regions, but we're sure we each have a different region which we think is the best. Will it be:
Kanto, the first region, where many Pokemon fans began?
Johto, where there were more Pokemon to explore?
Hoenn, a series of islands, filled with many new Pokemon?
Sinnoh, where we got to see Pokemon like never before?
Unova, a region with lots to see and over 150 Pokemon to catch?
Kalos, a Pokemon fan's delight, filled with many landmarks and memories?
Or Alola, a Hawaii-based region with 4 islands of beauty and adventure?

It doesn't matter what your opinion is. Feel free to choose any region!

The best regions design wise I'd say are Johto for its layout and lore behind its landmarks, Hoenn in ORAS for its diverse landscape, Sinnoh for all the snow and large monuments, Unova for the seasons and diversity in landscapes, and Alola for its natural beauty and layout. Kalos is nice visually but it is overshadowed by how much better Hoenn looks and Kanto is nice but it is visually simple in both the original games and remakes. The second gen games and HGSS made it look better but it still seems too simple.

I'll drop my three favourite regions but I don't know if they're the best since it's all fuelled by nostalgia.

Johto would have to come first because Pokemon Silver was my bae. Actually have Pokemon HG/SS in their boxes with the pokewalkers on my bookshelf since I loved the originals and the remakes. Anyway, yeah, I really liked the towers and I'm not sure if I'm correct but wasn't there a little bar where they had dancers? That little bar felt really cosy. Plus there's the Unown Cave thing which was pretty cool. It was also nice being able to go over into Kanto. Would have to vouch for the original Johto for nostalgia's sake though.

Kanto would come second because of nostalgia and stuff. I liked Lavender Town's chilled out soundtrack and the ghost thing was neat. Wasn't FR/LG the one where you go into that town and Team Rocket has smashed up a house, broken a hole through the wall, and you have to find them or something? I liked the creepy abandoned manor with the dittos everywhere too. Oh, and that little plot of land with the old man and the Machop trying to flatten things out for a tower.

Sinnoh would have to come third. I liked the swampy stuff and that frog thing that was introduced is still a favourite Pokemon. Plus there was that neat little village with the drawbridge that was separating it. The Survival Area and Resort Area were pretty nice too. There was also that creepy mansion with the Rotom that was really cool. Diamond/Platinum was probably the last gen where I liked the new Pokemon too, I've either been neutral with the following gens or I didn't like them aha.

Dunnae if everything is consistent since I'm going off the games.

As the creator of this page. I think Unova is the best. Dang, it had some good Pokemon.

Anime-wise, it'd be Kalos.

Out of the three regions I've been in (Sinnoh doesn't count because I haven't seen it all yet!) Kanto and Hoenn are my favourite!
Thanks to Inferna for one of the many reasons why I love Dragonite!
