Although...I remember being charged £88 for a Single to Leeds from Kings Cross. Quelle rip-off!
(Booking in advance will cheapen the fare, though. I hope.)

Last year I paid about £40 altogether for 2 singles between Stockport and London Euston, booked about 2 and a half months in advance.
