Pokemon Origins Announced!!

At the Pokemon Game show it's just been announced that a new series will run alongside Pokemon X/Y - Pokemon The Origin (or Pokemon Origins).

The show will be based around the Pokemon Adventures manga and will feature Red battling alongside Green and challenging the gym leader Brock.

Holy crap!! People have asked for this for YEARS! Mega news!

Will this make Pokemon popular again? As in give it more time on Cartoon Network and/or later times, like how it used to run.

From what I've read, this is a one off. With any luck, it'll be popular enough for a full series I would hope.

Be interested to see how this would be dubbed if they do dub it. Would characters like Brock and Oak retain the same VAs as the normal anime, or would this be a whole new cast of VAs?

I'm kinda also intrigued as to whether or not this will be something to promote a rerelease of Red and Blue/Green for the 3DS Virtual Console too. Probably a bit much for a simple VC release, but then Japan did get Mother 2 billboards for Mother 2/Earthbound's rerelease on the Wii U VC, so....

I just want them to program trading and battling in period. This isnt just another GB game they can get away with not incorporating the link cable options in, these games are build around it.

And remembering all those Mystery Dungeon anime one offs as well as that BW2 anime trailer, this makes me think the VC rerelease promotion could be more and more possible....

Based off the manga? That's not what I heard. But yeah, my only real complaint so far is the fact that Geodude still floats for some reason, and that's a really minor nitpick. Other than that I'm totally stoked to see this thing.

The official Japanese Pokémon website as well as their official Twitter account have announced the voice actors for the upcoming OVA special Pocket Monsters THE ORIGIN (ポケットモンスター THE ORIGIN). Junko Takeuchi (竹内順子) who is best know for her voice acting role as Naruto Uzumaki will voice Red. Katsuji Mori (森功至) will play the role of Professor Okido. Takuya Eguchi (江口拓也) will voice Green while Tomokazu Sugita (杉田智和) will be the voice of Takeshi.

It was also revealed that 5 background music tracks from Pocket Monsters Red and Green have been newly arranged by Pocket Monsters X and Y Sound Director Shota Kageyama (景山将太) for the Pocket Monsters THE ORIGIN OVA. The tracks will be included on the Nintendo 3DS Pokémon X & Y Super Music Collection (ニンテンドー3DS ポケモン Ｘ・Ｙ スーパーミュージックコレクション) CD set which goes on sale November 13th, 2013. The original background music tracks will also be included.

Well there you have it, Red will probably sound a lot like Naruto...

From what little I remember, I quite like Naruto's japanese VA, so this might not be so bad.
