Title: Rubbish songs from your favourite artists
Post by: That Girl in the 'Roo Suit on November 13, 2013, 02:57
Okay, so we are all incredibly biased towards our favourite artists. And even I am notorious for defending them when other people cannot see why they are so amazing. But there is usually one or two songs that you do have to just put your hands up and say "Okay, now this /is/ a load of baloney"

For example, I love Alice Cooper almost unconditionally. Okay, I think his older stuff is a little weird, granted, but it's raw. I think most of his new albums are pretty daring, they get his point across, tell a story, and have fun.

But I cannot get myself to like Disco Bloodbath Boogie Fever, Don't Talk Old To Me, and the entire Pretties For You album. I don't know why.

ZZ Top. Easily up there with Alice Cooper as one of my favourites. Of the albums I have (yeah, yeah, I know I don't have them all, money is a thing that causes problems) the only song I can think of that I really don't click with is Mexican Blackbird. Maybe Thunderbird.

Do you guys find this too? That no matter how much you love a band, there's always that one song that gets on your nerves? (The theory being that if it isn't the case, they have yet to release material you feel this way about... it will happen!!)

Green day's nightlife on dos is just the worst. They added in a woman rapping nope nope
Also drama queen it's got really weird lyrics "she's old enough to bleed now"
Glasvegas new album is eh. Like 3 songs are good but it gets depressing to listen to and one of the songs is an Adele rip off..

i dunno if these are really "bad" songs, but I cannot get into them at all

Barry Bonds (feat. Lil Wayne) - Kanye West
man Lil Wayne just absolutely ruins this song man. such a bad feature.

Return To Energiser - Enter Shikari
usually a big fan of pretty much anything ES do, but this song just isn't that good. some of the opening vocals are just terrible and then it goes into this singey part and then there's some electro-y stuff and it just doesn't really sound that great to me.

Self-Trepanation - Dance Gavin Dance
probably the only DGD song I ever skip. the opening guitar is so boring and then all of the music afterwards is alright but it's not worth sitting through that opening ever.

Permafrost - Closure In Moscow
barely a song honestly, it's just like a 3 minute interlude of atmospheric-y song, but it's smack bang in the middle of an otherwise fantastic album and just completely kills the enjoyment of the album for me. such a waste of 3 minutes that could have been another sick song ;_;

huh i thought there were more but scrolling through my iTunes I can't think of any.
i'm just hella easy to please i guess l0l

DragonForce - Fields of Despair

No. Way. Too. Cringe-worthy.

Lost in you - Three Days Grace

Never found myself liking the song from this band. Most of their other songs are amazing, but this one just doesn't seem to have the awesomeness of the rest.

Eminem ft Rihanna - Love The Way You Lie

Oh dear oh dear oh dear... If Eminem wanted to make a sentimental love song: this generic song definitely was not the way to go

Just... What the hell, man?!

Defying Gravity - Chris Colfer (& some woman who's name escapes me but I'm not talking about her so it's all good xD)

No. You should not be able to sing that high. Don't try. It hurts your throat, as well as my ears.

Just never liked it really. I guess it sounds too different from the stuff I usually hear from them.

Toast already knows me well enough to know that to insult Muse is the highest form of blasphemy ever.

I hope you don't make this mistake again.

Woo Woo - Biffy Clyro

actually theres lots of songs on opposites that aren't to scratch

not Little Hospitals though <3

Oh come on Panic Station is a fantastic song from that album, it's not all bad.

And to be honest, Follow Me isn't the worst, despite being a dubstep song.

Haven't even listened to the song in question but you're trashing on Muse because of a dubstep song they did? Wow music board keeps on delivering the laughs

Oh, The Weeknd - Gone
It's 7 minutes of him freestyling vocals whilst being off his face. It's pretty bad, the beat and sonics don't work well at all. A must skip if I'm listening through Thursday

lol adding a dubstep-esque ripple can add a positive impact to a track, even if they go aggressive and brostep style that extra dimension can be a boost

I usually hate dubstep but Follow Me was a good tune. But maybe I'm just a rabid Muse fangirl w/e

The worst songs on The 2nd Law are the ones where Matt isn't singing them :/ The songs themselves aren't bad but whichever one of the other dudes that's singing them just... isn't a very good singer.

United States of Eurasia.

Like.. what?

Aw man United States of Eurasia was great because it was so needlessly dramatic and over the top!

Just listened to Unsustainable and that's most definitely brostep, about to try Follow Me now

EDIT: heard Follow Me before, didn't realise it was a Muse song
It's not properly dubstep but it isn't too bad either

I believe that was the bassist (Wolstenholme). I actually think Liquid State wasn't too bad, but I haven't listened to the other one.

As for United States of Eurasia...I haven't really been able to enjoy that much.

absolution was the last good muse album like after that its just "errr we're out of ideas but we still want cash DROP THE BASS wub wub wuuuuub uwbw uwbw uwbuw bu wbwu "

...But...b-but Black Holes and Revelations...surely Knights of Cydonia, Starlight, Map of the Problematique, Supermassive Black Hole and Assassin qualify as good songs? I think all of the aforementioned songs were wonderful.

Chlo is gonna be a little mad xD

Anyways...to detract from the Muse debate, I'd say that a fair bit of Taylor Swift's recent stuff is crap. Especially 22. Hate that song.

I like the Black Holes and Revelations album. Mainly for starlight xD

I really don't like Hysteria though =/ I didn't like Absolution that much tbh

yeah when i said absolution was the last good one i mean i like the ones before it best
i'm one of those bores that'd put showbiz or origin of symmetry on and everyone is like "muscle museum????? AGAIN??????"

I listened to Origin of Symmetry last weekend for the first time in years and dang son it's still an awesome album. Matt is a much better singer now than he was then though lol

Absolution is probs my least favourite Muse album but omg what's wrong with the 2nd Law?

I always keep an open mind with music there is probably a song I like from every genre I've ever heard but maybe I like every Muse song because I've listened to them so much.

Nobody diss Unsustainable: it's my baby.

I like the way that Muse experiment with other genres and singers and I love the songs that Chris Wolstenholme (yes, I originally named my account after the Wolstenbeast) did. Maybe it's cos they're really personal to him etc.

But omg guys can we talk about other bands now or I'm gonna flip

Please guys, don't forget to keep on topic. We don't want this to be a let's all discuss the marmite effect and Muse!

Hmm.. As much as I love Fuel, I don't really like Down Inside of You. Eh, can;t put my finger on it
