woaaaah i'm not letting somebody badmouth wasps like that.
i mean yeah yellowjackets are aggressive but some paper wasps are docile as hell unless you scare them so it all varies by species.
but calling them useless is kind of dumb, if by that you mean "they don't make honey", implying that insects only exist to be useful to humans, come onnn.

they're part of the food chain, which is more than can be said for humans yeah.
some of them they pollinate flowers (figs in particular are really intertwined with the fig wasp's life cycle) and many of them eat other insects. plus there are the parasitic wasps which range from interesting to downright horrifying haha, depending on whether you like tarantulas/beetles/cockroaches.
but yeah in terms of ~usefulness~ they control the insect population, pretty much every species of insect has a wasp which feeds on it, and many of those species are pests to farmers (like caterpillars) whereas wasps don't eat the crops.
they're also eaten by lots of birds/ampibians/reptiles. and most wasps are solitary instead of being in a big scary hive. many species are really really tiny so you're unlikely to notice them anyway.

also pollen wasps are adorable, potter wasps are lovely and cuckoo wasps are beautiful.

and no i'm not angry about this haha, i just take any excuse to talk about insects.

I think it's because bumblebees are fluffy people think they're cute? Plus 'bees die when they sting you wasps don't'. Bees and wasps are interesting tho, parasitic wasps are creepy but really cool at the same time?

Anyway I've def realised who my true friends are :') a you have def proved yourself as a self centered little girl. I'm pretty much done with you now.

Plus 'bees die when they sting you wasps don't'.

tbh that's only true for worker honey bees. other kinds of bees have smooth stingers, and can sting multiple times. queen honey bees also have smooth stingers, but they don't leave the hive unless they're mating or fighting other queens.
(drone bees don't sting either: those are the males in the hive, and the sting is a mutation from where the female would lay eggs.. worker bees are sterile females)

interestingly, for those wondering why the hell worker honey bees die after stinging, it's only when stinging thick-skinned mammals like humans that the barbs catch and tear out the sting. also, with the sting staying put it can keep injecting more venom and be more effective (the hive acts as a superorganism and can deal with the loss of a few workers).
hence why you shouldn't grab hold of a sting to remove it: you'll just push more venom out. scrape it out instead with a fingernail or something.
ideally yeaaaah it's just best to leave them alone, as they only sting when they feel the hive/queen is threatened. which is why swarming bees are docile as hell, and will let you scoop them up and move them around: there's nothing to protect. people who are wearing bee beards or the like aren't really at risk of being stung.

so uh yeah bumblebees and other solitary bees can sting as many times as they like (bee power!). wasps, too. i remember hearing that some species of wasps have stings that catch (so they die afterwards) but i never found any further explanation on that, and i doubt they'd be common species of wasps.

also yessss bumblebees are adorable.
metallic sweat bees look cool BUT the blue-banded bee is my personal favourite in terms of looks.
but overall i have to be predictable and say that the honey bee is my favourite bee in general <:
