I look Nikolai in the eye.  From what I can see, he isn't trying to fool me.  However, there's a problem; they may need me - if only to have an advantage in another area of magic - but I don't need them.  I haven't needed anyone.

"I have plenty of places to go.  If you mean a sole place to live, no.  That's hasn't hindered me yet, though."  I make a pillar of rock form up from the ground behind me so that I can lean on it.  "If you want me to be your ally rather than your enemy, you'll have to make it worth my while.  I'm not one to babysit on a whim."

I see a light, I'm about to go to it, but it comes to me. My senses rush back to back to me and I open my eyes.

"Don't flatter yourself, Siofra. We don't need you, it was a rare moment of kindness. Anyway, I can do plenty for you. Ever wanted to know what the future may hold?" I say, leaving it on a question.

Matt closes his hand around the coin. "I've got better things to be doing than wasting my time being insulted," he growls. He begins to walk away.

Still on the ground, I ask, "Anyone know what happened? I remember glowing with a dark blue light then blacking out. Someone mind filling in the blanks?"

I can't help the smile on my face.

"Don't flatter yourself, Nikolai.  If I wanted to take shortcuts with my fate, I would have learned divination myself."  I look over to the tree I had overheard them talking about earlier.  "I'm more of a material person, you could say.  Your kindness and promises aren't of value."

I look back at him.  "If you have anything that would interest me - something valuable, precious, or cold hard cash - I'd be persuaded to take you up on your offer."

I look carefully at him for a while.  Then a smirk comes to my face and my eyes grow cold.  "Although, there is something I've been meaning to get, and if you wish to play a part I'd happily be an ally.  For now."  Then I shrug.  "Of course, it would involve some mischief, some thievery and just the small hint of execution.  The choice is yours."

"I'd be happy to help, but I refuse to kill. I'm sorry if that seems weak, but I can't bring myself to murder" I say, no longer looking her in the eye, knowing that she'll be laughing at my weakness.

I look her in the eye again. "Although, you may regret searching." I say coolly.

"Guess, I'll never know." I say, pretty much to myself. I sit up an wince in pain. //Must have been from fall.// I look around, trying to grasp what happened. I  hole in a brick wall, an unconscious, possibly dead, man, and smoldering bricks.

I bark out a quick laugh.  "If those are your feelings, that is fine.  The execution would only apply to us, if we get caught."

I gesture over to the tree.  "There are some things magical that are out in the open.  And then," I point towards a random building, "there are things out of sight.  Locked up.  Have you ever visited the Equinox Historical Museum, by the way?" 

I wander up to the grass at the bottom of the tree, inspecting the small flora growing at the roots.  "Rumour has it they have a special section for warlock history.  Not much on display there, though.  A shame, really, since they have an awful lot in storage."

"I guess no one else knows." I say, barely able to stand. "So, that offer, what was it?"

"Yeah, I've been. It's a bit boring, but I didn't expect much of a museum. Anyway, what is it you're wanting to find?" I say, despite knowing fine well what she's after.

I walk around behind her, to see if she reacts in distrust. I like to know how much I am trusted.

//It's like everyone is ignoring me. Am I dead?// I walk over to Nikolai and ask "Sorry to interrupt, but do you know what happened to cause this?" I motion to the body, smoldering flames and hole in the brick wall.

"You handled the situation when he got back up, dear.  Best pick up your stick." 

I extend a hand over a few flower buds that have yet to flower.  They shiver.  Slowly, they grow and blossom; buttercups.

"Two things.  One is so simple to get that no-one will even realise it's gone.  The other is trickier.  That's where the risk of death comes up."  I look at him from over my shoulder.  "If you have nothing to bribe me with, then your assistance in that area would be appreciated.  You won't have to worry about the earth swallowing you whole."

"Risk of death? At first I thought you were joking, but now I'm sold. I'm helping, and you aren't stopping me." I declare, lad something interesting is going to begin.

"Hmmm.... Sounds interesting, I'll join, I need some experience. This could help me control said stick." I respond as I up my smoking staff, somehow emitting a blue smoke, almost a ghostly smoke. I think back to my past, and fall onto one knee, tormented by the memories.
