Title: What media has made you cry?
Post by: Cody999 on September 18, 2016, 00:03
After being bullied for being very emotional when I was younger I have adopted a neutral expression pretty much all the time. However there is still some things that when I see or hear I just can't keep it together.

Most recently this comic page: http://www.anythingcomic.com/comics/2225211/good-boy/ (As a side effect of crying after this I noticed how green my eyes.)
And oddly the Disney song "Lava", I think it's just something about the situation.

What media has made you cry tears of sorrow or joy?

Media that has made me cry...

From Gundam; Gundam 00 - Episodes 23-25. I'm not going to bring it up, but there was lots of death and it was one of the saddest endings to a season I have ever seen. Gundam: The Origin - anything to do with Sayla towards the end of the first episode. The last episode of 08th MS Team. The end of Zeta Gundam and multiple parts of ZZ.

The ending to FFX is one of the saddest I've seen too. End of the first half of FF6 is there too. End of Chapter 5 in FE4 was heavy.

I'll list more as I think of them, but these were all really sad moments.

EDIT:

Ending to MGS3 and MGS4 come to mind as well. I completely forgot about those - MGS3 was one of the saddest endings to the franchise ever.

Ending to Shawshank Redemption but that was more out of joy. Shawshank in general was too grim to cry at, even though it was completely sad.

Quote
"Here, dogs of the Chronicle! Let the world feast on my soul! Bah... To hell with your "spiritual awakenings"... I know what I want... I just want to see it... ...The world you'd give yourself to create, my dear boy Ernst... He is the only hope left in the world... If I can't protect that hope, then what other use is my life?"

From Radiant Historia.

When I listened to this song (http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=liNQLieilx0) something very strange happens with my eyes. Why are my eyes doing that? How do my eyes do that???

It's like I'm happy but sad at the same time(???)

Some music videos and songs have made me emotional. The music video for  Ashes of Eden (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1yTyAh8IA8) toys with me quite a bit. Lucy by Skillet also catches me quite a lot as many of you may know.

Moviewise, the first and last Hunger Games movies have their moments. The first being when Rue is killed (4 years and still too soon), while the last is when Prim is killed by Coin's forces.

Note: Not attempting to start a huge debate, but something in the media that has me frustrated is the whole 'sitting or kneeling for the national anthem' uproar. I don't get why people are so mad. Sure I don't agree with it, but they have the right to do that, just as we have a right to stand and sing soprano for it. Now i'm cutting this off before it turns into a full blown rant.

The end of "Parade" - the moment of absolute hope between Leo and Lucille and then his recitation of Sh'ma is probably one of the most emotional part of any musical imo

Also like,, I'm really weird about stuff that's about siblings?? Like anything with a clothes brother sister bond is guaranteed to set me off

#me #relatable

Most recently me and my flatmates were all sobbing at one of the 9/11 documentaries but we also cried at one of the reunion episodes of Jeremy Kyle when they find people's long lost family etc.

I cry at all films. Every single one, challenge me.

Even like documentary films?

Recently Don't stop Believing has made me cry. I have no emotional connection to this song and don't feel happy or sad while listening. I just start crying silently. The only emotion there is confusion, are tears of confusion a thing?

Or was it the one when Fry's nephew went out into space? Both are really sad.

Broke back Mountain made me cry. Also cried while watching The Bodyguard. I forget if it was during the ending or when Nikki was killed and Rachel and Frank talk after the funeral. I think I may have cried once while listening to Nothing Compares 2 U before.

I just watched an old childhood favourite, The Iron Giant and the sacrifice bit just got me when it never used to make me cry. Maybe because of nostalgia or because I understand the sequence more now.

The music of N's farewell almost gets me (My eyes fill with tears but they stay there). Not only is it a beautiful track, but what it represents to me (The leaving of a friend) gets me as well. I'll protect my true friends to the end, I don't want them going anywhere.

The pieces of media that has never made me cry for some odd reason are Bambi's mom being killed, Littlefoot's mom's death, and Mufasa's death. Bambi's mom being killed didn't affect me when I first saw the movie when I was four. I thought she just abandoned her child to live in another part of the forest which is pretty messed up for a small child to think. Even worse is I kept telling everyone that is what happened and I never knew she was dead until I was about eight.
