Making hands

Petzbreeder:
I saw a video on the BBC news website, showing how to make a paper mache hand. I wouldn't mind trying it.

I'm going to make them in the positions and with the colours shown in this picture.

I'm not sure how to make it so that the hands don't move out of the positions I need them in. Any advice?
