Title: Misheard Lyrics
Post by: The name master on September 17, 2016, 14:55
I had to look up the lyrics of the song in this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8yX2wzjyKk)

Because at 0:13 it's sounds like "Hey! A fat lady!" but apparently, it's "exactly"

I also thought that the first line was "I'm gonna sing a song with spirit" but it's actually "Come on, raise up all our spirits"

Also thought the second line was "shout the whole team cheer" but it's "Shout the home team cheer"

"Let's place our voices high, high, high"??? That's clearly "Let's lift our voices high, high, high"
These are the actual lyrics

Spoiler: show
Come on, raise up all our spirits
Shout the home team cheer
Let's place our voices high, high, high
So everyone will hear, Yeah!
And until the game is over, exactly
This is what we'll do
This is what we're gonna do
So fight, fight, fight
Fight to the finish
We're all for you
So fight, fight, fight
Fight to the finish
We're all for you
So fight, fight, fight
Fight to the finish
We're all for you
So fight, fight, fight
Fight to the finish
We're all for you!

I guess this is why lots of people say the songs from the super mario world cartoon suck.

Are there any lyrics you mishear as something else?

Super Trouper by ABBA:
I was sick and tired of everything when I called you last night from Glasgow

Misheard as:
I was sick and tired of everything when I called you last night from Tesco.

Apparently, a lot of people mishear it the same way.

the most notable one I can thing of is from that black eyed peas song

I heard: Shake it like a paranoid pidgeon
They actually said: Shake it like a polaroid picture

mine sounds better though because a paranoid  would shake a lot more erratically

The song is by Outcast and is called Hey Ya. I can see how you would think it was The Black Eyed Peas though.

Not that I mishear it, I just (deliberately) misinterprete these lyrics! From Friend Like Me From Alladin by Genie

"Can your friends go Abra Kadabra..." I instantly think of pokemon!

Shape of You I thought "push and pull like a magnet do" was "push and pull like a magnitude" and I was like he doesn't know what that word means lmao.

Adrenaline by 12 Stones

Actual: Feels like a drug but I know it's adrenaline
Go

What I heard: Feels like a drug but I know it's just the feeling letting
Go

And this is why i'm one of the great minds of our time :/

Hmm, Whenever I've performed it I've always sung 'Eye Swipe'

There's a famous video of Trivium's Pull Harder on the Strings of your Martyr that has misheard lyrics in it. I'd link it but I can't remember if it's got NSFW content in it.

i always heard "korea, korea, korea, korea" in pavement- cut your hair (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QTTgpTeb0Z8) when the real lyric is "career, career career"

judging from the comments i'm not the only person though lol

Hey Baby - No Doubt

Actual lyrics:
All the boys get the girls in the bag

Misheard as:
All the boys hit the girls in the back

I've been hearing it this way for ages.

I always misheard Karma Chameleon is "I'm a chameleon" I literally can't describe the feeling of disappointment when I realised that there wasn't a song about wanting to be a chameleon.

Also slightly embarrassed that at every school thing they'd played that and I'd been singing it as that the whole time lmao
