Random Randomness / Re: Nostalgia Thread
« on: October 16, 2022, 13:21 »
For what might be the first time, I've actually visited here and remembered it was my accounts birthday! 20 years old, probably older than the majority of people visiting pokemon fan sites/discords these days.

I remember the excitement leading up to "Pokemon Advanced" when I first registered, the chatter every time we saw a new pokemon revealed, the theories about Team Magma/Aqua and everyone changing their avatar to pick a side beforehand. The constant speculation and straw-clutching people go to to convince themselves that the upcoming generation will have multiple regions in it seems to be one of the constants through the decades.

But yeah, as far as I'm concerned, it'll stick around for a long time. I'm not really investing in anything major, but let me know if there's something quick I can fix and if anyone ever wants to put anything up, I'm happy to do my best to help out.

That's great to know, old school forums like this are a great nostalgic blast from the past to read through!

Still waiting on Pokegame... 😜

I pop by every so often (increasingly sporadically now) to see if the site is still up - if nothing else it's a time capsule of a bygone era and I hope it sticks around.

My account will also be 20 in October, mad. To be 13 again with my biggest concerns being internet arguments over pokemon and hanging around on the IRC chat.

I think it's nostalgia for the most part when people claim old games are best - If I try to play an old game that I didn't play when it was new then I just can't get into it. Even now when I try to play the older pokemon games I get annoyed at how many quality of life changes don't exist yet. (20 bag slots, seriously!?)

I'm guessing the Yes vote was blocked by old people not wanting change more than anything. Cameron is looking as smug as ever. At least this means Scots can't moan about England anymore, as we can always say that they voted to be our BFF.

After how tense and negative the Scotland thing has become, it's nice to see a funny facebook post about it all being about "Yes Club 7" vs "Darling buds of Nay".

I agree about the heat. I'm still not back at uni so this just feels like summer hasn't ended. Not a fan, I need grey clouds and rain.

Mondays are the best. The hardest part is those first three hours of awakeness but after that it's just such a good day.

You're an unholy creature. UNHOLY! I've found out my timetable for this year involves Monday lectures at 9, which end at 6pm in the first week. I will not survive.

I've decided that I hate people who go to an effort to remember a certain number of decimal places of pi and feel the need to tell others about it. It really doesn't make you look smart or cool, just very, very sad.

my oldest friend is getting married??? they've set a date for it and everything, this is actually happening, they're younger than me oh god i'm at adult age aren't i.
That's pretty much the big sign, yeah. When they pump out babies it feels just as bad.

Just found out Garbodor can't learn Poison Jab, forcing it to rely on gunk shot. That makes no sense. it even has a massive arm for jabbin'.

"Why the hell is there suddenly stuff about September the 11th all over the internet?"

*checks date at the end of the day*

"oooooohhhh"

I'd rather they just left camerupt's speed alone rather than lowering it. Being able to surprise things with a rock polish is fun. :(

Still no sign of mega flygon...this is worrying. The gallade is very nice though.

oh my God, when you hit the scene (you'll know which one I mean if you watch it all) you will be absolutely amazed. Legendary film.
I've seen many candidates for the scene already. I'm really liking this govermment man that always wears black and has slicked back hair in a ponytail, I'm sure he's not evil at all. I did have to google the film make sure it wasn't actually made in the 90's.
