It's too small at the moment. Try and get rid of all the white space below the guide.

But that's not the idea of a tutorial. Tutorials are best if you can just load them up instantly without messing about.

I found the writting on the Chao tutorial quite hard to read. The size is fine, but the font seemed to squish the letters together at that size.

Is there a tutorial on how to sprite with GIMP? I just got GIMP and I am just confused. Really confused. If there isn't one, I'll just keep trying to figre it out.

Just stick to paint for spriting. Gimp is only useful spriting wise for outlining pixelovers (using layers) and for making sprites transparent. You can use it for making gifs too but that's quite tricky and i won't explain it here.
