Since the old topic has now gone, I thought I might make a new one. Especially in light of the change to Ash's Pokémon. As of the latest Japanese episode; Eve of Battle! Ash's Pokémon All Together!!, his Cyndaquil has now evolved into Quilava, also learning the move Eruption. It only took it around 508 episodes to do so..
Anyway, your thoughts?
-
508 episodes!? My god, puts leveling up that magikarp into a gyarados into perspective. Weird he seems to be using two fire types for the league...although his chimchar line was always been a bit crappy. Maybe he's seen sense and ditched it in favour of a proper fire starter line.
-
I'd rather he didnt ditch any of his Sinnoh Pokemon for the League, whom he's trained so hard with and even got some to their final evolutions.
Well, maybe ditch Gabite and Pikachu. :P
-
He was always going to call some Pokémon out from Oak's though wasn't he. I mean aside from Hoenn, there hasn't been a league that he's competed in with just his main party. Also, from the look of next week's preview, he's going to bring Heracross back as he will be battling Nando with it, Staraptor and Quilava.
Well, maybe ditch Gabite
Am I missing something :P
-
Yeah, Gabite's too recent and still in it's first evolution. I know Buizel still is, but he's been with Ash way way more long.
-
To be honest, as much as I would like him to go through with one team instead of having him switch Pokémon every battle, I really want to see Totodile back and possibly have it evolve. It's now the only Johto starter that hasn't made it to it's second stage. Though if it does evolve, I want it to go all the way, not get stuck as a Croconaw for a decade like Bayleef has.
-
I always wanted Ash to return to Pallet to see one of his Pokemon had evolved since he been away, not just left the way they so many years ago. :/
-

By the looks of preview images for next Thursday's episode, he uses Heracross for his battle against Nando...
-
Why did they wait so long >:(? Ash finally evolved another one of his Starters ;D.
-
UPDATE
Not really a new capture or whatever, but Gliscor fans are going to be pretty happy this week...
-
I saw the pictures for this week's episode.
Gliscor's return was probably the biggest surprise in the whole series for me. I gasped out loud.

Yeah, I was thinking "oh no, he hasnt call for Charizard has he?" and then was hugely surprised to see Gliscor. Good call. :)
-
Charizard would've been meh-ish for me.
But goddamn he could've brought back Sceptile.
...Or maybe ALL THREE. That's a nice scenario to think about.
-
He needs his squirtle back!! It'd be brilliant, as long as he didn't go and evolve it...
-
he could've brought back Sceptile.
In the final Sinnoh league battle he does so. :D

Yes and I was happy he did.

And to think I thought Ash had given Gliscor up ( relieved sigh).

Looks like Brock has a Chansey now. It evolved on the boat back to Twinleaf Town while helping a Pichu.
EDIT:
And as of BW002, Jessie has a Koromori. Ash has a Mamepato and is currently being followed by Mijumaru.
-
And now Ash has Pokabu. Will he make it a full house on the starters?
-
Considering that an upcoming episode is named "Get Tsutarja With Attract!?", I'm guessing yes.
Also, from the sound of it, TR have left all of their Pokémon at Rocket HQ, meaning Jessie only has Koromori and James has nothing. I wonder what he'll end up catching..
-
Time to keep up to date
Ash now has a Sewaddle. Now he has 6 Unova Pokemon, he'll be switching back and forth it seems.
So no proper goodbye for Wobbuffet, Mime Jr and the others then? Wonderful.
Mind you, TR look more serious from what I've seen from ep pics...
-
/me uses revive on the topic.
Since the last post, Ash's Pidove has evolved into Tranquill, and his Sewaddle has evolved into Swadloon.
Also, James has FINALLY caught a Pokémon in the Unova region. He's added a Yamask to his team as of the latest episode.
-
You mean James's first new Pokemon since like, awhile. XD

Since Carnivine in DP002 I think. Roughly 200+ episodes ago.
Anyway, as of the latest episode, Iris has caught an Emolga.
-
I-i-i-ris got an Emolga?! NO. Iris is not worthy ;; But I guess you could say that about Ash as well

Sure she is worthy. :P
-
In today's episode, Ash caught a Palpitoad and Cilan caught a Stunfisk.
I don't mind Ash's new catch, buuuuuut Cilan with a Stunfisk? No wayyy, I'm really disappointed by it. :\
-
As of today's episode, Ash now owns a Roggenrola, making it his eighth Pokémon obtained in the Unova region. IIRC, by this time in DP he'd only caught two Pokémon. He seems to really be trying to "Catch 'em all" this series.
-
Most of the stuff he's catching seems to be evolved/evolving. Maybe they're going to keep the starters in first forms or something.
-
Not exactly a capture or anything, but interesting nonetheless. As of the latest episode, Meowth has been fired from Team Rocket and, for the next few episodes at least, is travelling with Ash & Co.
-
Meowth SAYS he has been fired, rather. You never know with those sneaky Rockets, it could all be part of a scheme! :x

Indeed, could be their greatest Capture Pikachu plan to date. ;P
-
Any reason why Meowth has been kicked out?
-
Watching the episode, there seem to be no ulterior motives with the Rockets, they all seem unsuspicious even counting the scene of Jesse and James in that following episode. If he defects to the Rockets they could simply make up.
I'm hoping they don't because if this is a joke it isn't a funny one etc., but that's for another topic.

How about that? Iris now owns a Dragonite.... o.o

Well Iris DID need another powerhouse other than Excadrill and another Dragon type since she is trying to be a Dragon Master. All she had was Axew for her Dragon type before and it only had two Dragon moves. Emolga seemed a bit odd for Iris to train since it learns NO Dragon moves except for when it comes to Hidden Power's type. At least with Dragonite she can call herself a Dragon master in training since most trainers in the anime with a Dragonite were pretty powerful. And maybe Georgia will give Iris some credit for catching a rare and powerful Pokemon for once. I mean the battles those two have had almost always involved Excadrill and no Dragon Pokemon. For that reason I can sort of understand why Georgia doesn't think Iris worthy to battle when she has no useful Dragon type Pokemon to battle her rival with other than Axew.

Unfortunately, merely getting Dragonite doesn't make Iris worthy to battle. It makes Dragonite worthy to battle. Kind of. I don't think it would change Georgia's opinion of Iris at all [although she has been more supportive of Iris in recent times]. So at this moment in time adding Dragonite to her team doesn't aid Iris at all. If anything, it takes all potential growth and development that Iris could have had by evolving a Dratini or Dragonair herself and throws it out the window.
Just waiting for Cilan to be given anything... if they can sacrifice adequate focus for all of Iris's Pokémon by giving her Dragonite, they can give Cilan something new too. :S

Man I hope Serena gets a good team in the anime. Iris' team was lackluster and Misty's team of all water pokemon got boring.
I sort of liked May and Dawn's teams, but even then they weren't as good as they could have been. I wish the main girl could have a strong collection of pokemon for once.
-
Well May did have a pretty strong team when she returned in Sinnoh. Not much, but that's what time away from that walking Everstone Ash can sometimes do for you. XD
I'll be interested to see what they do about Charizard. I'm certain he won't come with Ash for X and Y, but considering Charizard has a Mega Evolution, I'm sure that's something the writers will want to do sometime down the line (Have Charizard return and have him Mega Evolve).
And also if he gets Oak'd or returns to the Charisific Valley or whatever it was called....
-

Yeah, every female lead gets stronger AFTER they leave Ash. I always thought Misty's team was boring since she had all generic water pokemon, that's why the writers only focused on Psyduck because it was her one good pokemon.
Iris only had 4 pokemon, and her Dragonite was ridiculous.
Dawn's team started off good but once Ambipom was released it got lackluster. Neither Piplup nor Buneary ever evolved, and Mamoswine wasn't as strong as it should have been. Don't get me started on that Togekiss that was just handed to her without any training.
