They mean the same. Apparently 'spelled' is what Americans write whereas we, the gods of the earth, use 'spelt'. I think spelt is a lot better because adding 'ed' to the end of every past tense verb seems a little cliché and less sophisticated. I suppose I would compare it to saying, 'I was going to learn Stairway to Heaven, but I found the Seven Nation Army easier to play, so I did that instead,' and thus left with something infinitely smaller than what you could've had.

It's 'spelled' in this country too. Has been since before colonisation of the New World. How do I know? Sister in law is an English teacher.

Spelled is the past tense of spell.
Spelt is a species of wheat.

Probably similar to the should of/should have thing.

LOL I know what you mean, it's a bit like 'addicting' and 'addictive' so many people use the former that you begin to wonder if it isn't actually the grammatically correct one of the two.

Omg, I completely forgot about that! It annoyed me so much I looked it up and found out addicting is a valid word...which annoyed me greatly. It sounds so stupid.

How some people are totally oblivious (or just too selfish to care) to the feelings of others but are happy to baaaaaaaaaaaaw all day long about how *they* feel and about how life is has been so unjust to *them* and expect everyone else to solve all their damn problems for them. The internet isn't working on the laptop so I can't write whilst using the internet/listening to music which has put me in a predicament. Luckily I've gotten chapters 2 and 3 written so I don't have to worry about doing them. It just makes thinks a tad more difficult though.
