Is anyone else getting slightly weary of the fact Nintendo hasn't mentioned that there's a way to connect from Gen 5 to Gen 6 yet?
Or have I just completely missed the news?
Oh gosh. Poketransfer is such a faff though.
I don't think they've released it yet, but I don't think it's a big enough feature to warrant release early.
I mean, yes, we all want it (or most do), but it's nothing new. It won't make someone new buy the game, and most previous players will buy it regardless. So I don't think they'd release it till nearer launch, if they release it.
I would say its almost definite it will include a feature to migrate, but I seem to recall someone (can't remember if this was official) saying it was hard for them to transfer between DS and 3DS, so that may be a reason for them not to.
They did say they were working on it in the roundtable after E3.
Then there's also the Dialga/Palkia/Darkrai event to consider so close to the X/Y release.
Kay did say that someone who worked at GAME said they transfer to the new games. When the events start I'm going to press some GAME staff and see if I can get some information.
They didn't announce it for previous generations. There probably will be a way, I'd be extremely surprised if there wasn't. Based on their comment, the only limitation might be that you'll need 2 3DSs (as 3DS download play may not work on the DS). Beyond that, transfer between DS and 3DS is absolutely possible, just look at what you can do in the Dream Radar. I suspect the limitations they mention refer to the console, not the game type.
It's probably not worth relying too much on information from GAME employees. They have just about the same sources that we do, and while they're probably spending as much time looking into as anyone due to their job, they don't have a special channel that would give them a lot more information than any of us would. Any information on hypothetical briefings would be leaked and would end up online, same with any 'cheat sheets' they've got.
And I wouldn't be surprised if they give the desired answer just so they can push you into doing pre-orders.
I'm sure long term fans are hoping for an unlockable reward for transfering a RSE Pokemon all the way up to eventual RS Remakes. XD
