Title: on a scale from one to ten, how good are they?
Post by: Mr. Apple on October 12, 2013, 22:25
i was curious and wanted to see what you guys thought of the games so far.

as for me, probably 9/10. the graphics, gameplay, just about everything was great, execpt for 2 things: lack of many new pokemon and the camera angle. imo, there ahouldve been a lot more pokemon created, because theres not very many, and its not up par with kanto's 151.

and the camera angle got annoying, like in the big, central city (i cant think of the name, its shaped like a pokeball on the map if that helps any hah) got a bit weird, because it was moving around a lot and hard to judge were things were.dont get me wrong, its pretty cool, but a bit annoying at times.

The big city is Castilia. You're welcome.

The big city is Lumiose, not Castelia, you're thinking of BW.

But I'd probably say 9 as well, they are absolutely awesome, but small things like not being able to exit the first gym till you either die or win every battle let it down...

86.

Lumiose is really disorienting, but other than that, everything is fantastic! I love this game so much.

You go back to the spot you fall down upon and either walk forward one space or press A. I can't remember which.

You can get out though.

I think this game is awesome to be honest. It's far better than I was expecting although time will tell how well it stands once it's all over.

My main gripes are:

-Having to use the rollerskates with the analog stick (I'm fine with the D-Pad but it's kind of a shame)
-Framerate dropping sometimes in battles looks a little bit laggy
-Lumiose city has slightly awkward camera angles and it's so easy to get completely lost...and that's only in the small part of it that's available at the beginning. I think it's done on purpose though, to make you feel like you're lost in a big city (which is actually kinda cool)
-Lack of new Pokemon
-Supposed lack of postgame

8/10. It's very good so far, but the exp share is making leveling WAY too fast, idk how they thought that was a good idea, especially so early in the game.

9/10, needs more 3d. otherwise, exp share does make it a little easy but it does solve the grinding problem i suppose. gym battles feel really anticlimatic though

with that complaint about there not being that many pokemon keep in mind that they had to make all new models of EVERY pokemon (they didn't use the pokedex 3D models) and for what pokemon they DID add they are very good. I haven't had too many gripes so far my biggest being that hoarde battles take too long if you don't have AOE attacks. Except for that looking at the game for what it is. Gamefreak have really outdone themselves this time so 9.9/10.

I should also say it's a solid 9/10 for me too.

I think one things that DOES gripe me a fair bit is the day/night time. It's barely visible on the overworld unless you're near streetlamps or can see the sky, otherwise you'd think you're running around during the day...nothing is really dark at all.

Also I notice things started getting light at about 4am

Would say a good 8.5, i am having so much more fun than black and white.
Also love the drawings that swish away in a trainer battle
power up punch is such a fun move

-Chespin was so op with rollout at the start haha, it evolved into a Quiladin before i got to the gym leader!!!
-exp.share is op, turned that off
-some lag in battles but it is okay, nice scenery
-gym leader music is, interesting kinda chilled out
-not enough new pokemon! However i greatly appreciate the variety of pokemon to choose from

9/10 for me as well. Aside from the camera angles and little bits of lag, my only complaint is how compelling this game is - I can hardly put it down! I adore pokemon Amie and find myself taking pokemon out of my boxes just so I can feed and pet them. The EV training is fantastic. The models and animation are both stunning and fluid. The game has completly supassed what i was hoping for = and I was hoping for a lot!
