Title: Internet Trolls
Post by: Meowstic Royalty on October 25, 2013, 22:12
Have any of you had experiences with internet trolls? Do you troll from time to time? Are you still being trolled now?

I'm currently being trolled on Pokemon showdown by a guy who I beat 6-0 on a battle two months ago, and he goes into my every battle and constantly spams insults using bots. His IP has been banned countless times yet his ban evade negates that. Eventually I had to make a new account which has lost me my high ladder rankings. &%$#.

Don't feed the troll is the best advice.

Ignore this fellow. He will soon get bored.

I find them annoying.

Some guy I was battling a while back cussed me out for beating his lead then quit.

trolling has been so watered down that now just annoying someone is classed as trolling. i remember when it was heaps intricate and trolling someone online was putting them in fear of their lives by finding their home phone and scaring them out.

i'm currently pulling a really elaborate troll between two friends of mine at the moment. it's working really well, i have ruined their potential friendship.

That counts as trolling? I told Chloe what she ordered from mcdonalds, and she got a little freaked out xD

But I haven't met many trollers before, and if I do I just ignore them, it's usually best

I can never tell the difference between bad trolls, and genuinely stupid people. I mean, there are cases where the answer's obvious, but still.

I just think they're idiots, to be honest.

I wouldn't want to potentially lose a friendship because I wanted to be a troll.

It's why on a a lot of other forums, if I post something in a topic, I just don't go back to that topic.

this is a pretty silly post
like just because someone enjoys making fun of other people doesnt necessarily make them an idiot, and if youre "trolling" someone and they get heaps cut and don't want to be friends with you anymore.....over like, a troll....then good for them, that's really newjack styles.
also whats the point of posting and not going back, the idea of posting is to generate discussion. now you're never going to see my reply/anyone who replies to you.

I was talking about other forums that I go on. The majority of them are filled with people who instantly resort to "u butthurt! TALK ENGLISH" the moment you reply to them or post something that they might not agree with. Honestly, I was told to speak English because I had better punctuation than someone.

With trolls, I should have said that I think most of them are idiots. You get too many people watching trolls on Youtube and go out and try to replicate what they see without realising that it's usually not funny. I honestly wouldn't care if I got trolled if it was funny to both the victim and the troll.

Generally speaking, I wouldn't want to ruin a potential friendship because I have a dry and dark sense of humour. Obviously if someones humour mostly consisted of fart jokes, then sure, go ahead and troll someone with farts.

Depends on the kind of troll; some trolls are idiots in that they think they're being funny but they're really just being dicks and they have no social conscience, others are legitimately feeling like bad people in the moment (i'm a situation troll), and some are incredibly smart and far more subtle in their methods.

I agree, some troll are just plain dumb, and others are just, wow.

Sadly, I feed the trolls most of the time.

Guy.

I only troll my friends, and my sports teams when they lose, by making jokes.

I'm pretty sure that's just circa-2006 4chan doxxing.

Trolling should be subtle and funny for all but those being trolled.

David Thorne from 27b/6 is an excellent IRL troll. Go and look him up.

Calling yourself a troll is pretty lame though, trolling is an activity everyone can partake in to some degree, it's not limited to a certain type of person.
