Hey guys,
I am new on this site and I don't know where to post this question, so I am just posting it right here.
I have a traded Charizard with happiness level 255 in pokemon leafgreen and
I want to change his name (or nickname). As we know there is no other way to do so than trading it back to its original trainer and do it. So, here's my question, when I'll trade it, change its name and then trade it back to me, what happiness level will it have ? the base happiness or the one I had earlier (i.e. 255).....
Or, is there a way to restore that happiness level ??
Depends on the version.
If you transfered it to Diamond/Pearl, then no, you cannot get it back. The Pokémon, I mean.
If it is in 3rd gen games, you will get it back, as well as the hapiness. If not, just win battles, have it leading your team, massages from Gary's sister... that stuff.
Hope you are happy with Charizard.

My charizard was traded from firered as a charmander at lvl 6 to leafgreen.
Now I want to trade it from leafgreen to firered (to change its name) and then back to leafgreen.
What will happen to its happiness, will it be reset ?
i think it would stay at 255, not positive though.
I believe it's going to reset, but it really won't take too long to get it back up to max.
This should help you get Charizard's happiness maxed out as quickly as possible. (http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Happiness#Generation_III)
So, it will reset !!
hmmmmn, thanks anyway.... ;)
