Title: What Move Tutors do you want to see?
Post by: Richard and Blaziken on May 15, 2014, 22:55
We know they're coming, so let's talk about which move tutors you'd like to see for OR/AS. Here's a short list of the ones I think we need:

Defog
Knock Off
Hyper Voice
Fire Punch
Ice Punch
Thunder Punch
Earth Power
Iron Head
Giga Drain
Drain Punch
Dragon Pulse
Gunk Shot
Pain Split
Stealth Rock - Forgot this one, this is important

I think those are the most important ones we need to return, but what else would you like to see as a tutor?

Hyper Voice would only be useful for Waifuvoir (as far as I am concerned), as well as other turn-your-normal-attack-into-a-usefultype Pokémon.

Personally, I would Superpower to return, as well as Low Kick, Outrage and something for Fairies, like Moonblast and Play Rough with me ;3 (I am too frisky today...).

Foul Play would be nice for a surprising Porygon2.

Knock off is almost a requirement imo. To be perfectly honest, though, Memento would be a nice touch for troll sets. Extremespeed, bullet punch and vacuum wave for priority, all of which that would be awesome for lucario and other priority users.

I'd appreciate stealth rocks for my aerodactyl, I really don't want to have to breed a decent one back in old gen breeding.

Stealth Rock, Heat Wave and Iron Head for me, please. Zapdos just hasn't felt the same for VGC without Heat Wave, and I've skipped on loads of potential Stealth Rock leads because I'm too lazy go get BP in the 4th (or was it a TM in here?) and 5th gen games. Iron Head for the paraflinch Jirachiiiiii, mwahahaahahaha!

Flygon would still be, at maximum, UU, since it already has 4-move-syndrome. But yes, that would be sexcellent. By extension, make Venusaur learn Dragon Dance. oεo

A move tutor I DON'T want to see is one teaching Sacred H4X. Bar Darmanitan, almost every Pokémon that learnt it would be pretty much more dangerous than now.

No, it would be like every other Dragon Dance Dragon-type, except with better STAB and lower stats.

I think flygon has suffered enough for the past 10 years or so. Give it dragon dance and huge power and we'll be set for now, garchomp can have truant. It's totally fair.

As a VGC player I'm gonna shout HELPING HAND at this question whenever it's asked.
That's the only one I hugely care about, but other cool ones from a VGC perspective would be:

- Hyper Voice, for Gardevoir basically
- Heat Wave
- Icy Wind
- Bug Bite (hey Scizor how do you fancy being useful again?)
- Low Kick
- Superpower
- Tailwind

And Aqua Tail / Earth Power / Dark Pulse / Dragon Pulse / Giga Drain / Drain Punch would be cool of course, but I don't think their absence as tutors has really affected the metagame at all. That does, of course, depend on which Gen VI Pokémon would get them.

Oh, I'd really like a Follow Me tutor as well, but we've never had one in the past iirc so that might be a lost hope.

Pay Day or Happy Hour (to get extra cash)
Meteor Mash (Very few Pokemon learn this attack and no Pokemon has EVER learned it by level up since its intro in Gen 3. The event Jirachi was the only "new" Pokemon to have it but it was only in Japan)
Metronome (One of my favorite moves!)
Rock Climb (DEFINITELY needs to return!)
Bullet Seed (Have the tutor right before Roxanne since in Gen 3 it was handy to use on her)

Having played Emerald a bit now, I don't care what tutors there are, just as long as they aren't TM tutors that you could only use once.

More Tutors I'd like to see:

Pain Split and Beat Up (Two more of my favorite moves)
Magnet Rise
Elemental Punches
Mega Punch
Mega Kick
Silver Wind
Ominous Wind
Fairy Wind
Heat Wave

now that mega-sceptile's been announced, I'd hope there'd be a dragon pulse tutor. Otherwise, it'll be a pain transfering him 3 gens for one move, and if the VGC rules stay the same then he won't be legal with dragon pulse.

Which would be a shame, because I can only really see lightning rod being exceptionally useful in double battles, combined with a discharge manectric, or something.

Headbutt would be fun if you could knock Pokemon out of random trees again! I could picture the game giving you occasional Horde battles when you Headbutt a tree (e.g. 5 Wurmple tumbling out and attacking you.)

Dive if it doesn't return as an HM.

Dragon Pulse is a tutor in B2/W2, which is a one gen transfer, and I would expect most of the B2/W2 tutors to return anyway.

Or they could just change it's movepool to include dragon pulse as level up/move relearner. They changed them between games in the same gen in the past.

If they can add new megas that aren't in XY then maybe they can add new moves? Kyogre and Groudon were shown using moves with animations I haven't seen anywhere else. A physical version of quiver dance for the crappy bugs to use would be very nice. Swarm dance or something.
BEEDRILL WILL BE VIABLE ONE DAY. Oh and drill run tutor. Beedrill needs drill run.

I think everyone else covered everything I was going to suggest, but lately I've been thinking Hurricane could be fun for rain teams. Well, maybe not for anyone on the receiving end of a Hurricane, but I bet some Pokemon are just itching to get their hands on it.

...Looking at the list of Pokemon who actually have access to it, though, it doesn't seem like anything with access to Thunder will be getting it (that one event Mewtwo not counting) Probably for balance issues, which I can respect, but darn if Zapdos wouldn't have a field day with Thundercaning everything.

Gyarados! xD

But yeah, not exactly the pinnacle of special attackers, although it'd be fun using Hydro Pump / Thunder / Hurricane on it ingame.

Salamence could somewhat outclass Dragonite in rain with it too, with a higher SpA and Speed and a more powerful water move than surf in Hydro Pump. SpecsMence could make a return to OU xD

Actually, speaking of Hydro Pump, I wouldn't mind that being a tutor move, because Solarbeam / Fire Blast / Thunder / Blizzard are all TMs, and I always consider hydro pump to be one of that group, so it should be a tutor move.
