Hi! I tried PMng you, but your thingy was full, so...

I was going to say this doesn't need to be a topic, but then I saw the full pm box thing. BTW, mind making more of your topics under the correct boards (this one should be under sprite art for example)?

im on about how you make topics, dude.

like im gonna be blunt tbh:

you make pointless topics that don't actually promote discussion or debate (stuff that hasn't already been done to death like the hurr durr all modern bands such thread), like topics are supposed to.

like it's fantastic that you have enthusiasm, really, but a good 90% of your topics (including all of the ones with 0 responses) do not promote actual... conversation. or they're in the wrong category. or they're a little dodgy because you're impersonating a feature of the site (name rater, who is still around).

thats what i mean :)

xhanatos please don't take this personally but nobody's telling him to stop making threads

we're telling him to make more substantial threads

i'm too tired to make more and frankly i don't think anyone would be interested in the threads i make; my interests go far beyond pokemon and somehow never coincide with what's going on with people around here.  I also don't think anyone would be interested in the threads i make due to past experience; you absolutely cannot accuse me of trying my best to make threads in the past, and at this point it just feels futile since people seem more interested in egging him on than actually trying to improve things.

I know that you are fond of him but you're only encouraging him, and he latches onto people who praise him and then continues to post really irreverent stuff towards everyone else with a whole "see?  someone agrees with me!" sort of mentality.

I would sincerely be okay with threads like this if the name master legitimately had a better attitude when it came to both interacting with people and taking criticism.  The issue is that he really doesn't.  He seems to have no interest in actual interaction, just at showing stuff off that he discovered.  So please, stop rushing to his defense and exacerbating the issue; "at least he tries" isn't good enough anymore, because he has a very very poor attempt at trying that is making it hard for me to ever want to post on this place to see everything cluttered up.

I see potential in him to actually make this place active again but rushing to his defense every time he's criticized does not help.  We can turn that pent up energy and enthusiasm into something significantly more productive.

so what are you doing to help him revitalise the forums then, aside from talking about him as if he wasn't here and saying kinda insensitive stuff like "He seems to have no interest in actual interaction" when hes explicitly stated he has Problems with social interaction???? maybe he is trying his best????????

i mean i had a big dumb carepost here but if you can't get the "dude is a bit Affected like we all kind of are here" inference and kinda get that this place is kind of a Crap Social Skills Nerd Safe Space in lieu of anything else and some people here have Certain Ways then its just gonna be me and u arguing and getting all het up over "My Forums Posting Purity!!!!!11!11" and im SO not interested in that argument, sorry

p.s. also does anyone else remember their Forums Posting Careers at the tender age of 16? i dunno if we're doing the Awkward Embarassment Projection thing that i used to do when i took my disgruntlement out on nerds on here in the past which i sorely regret cos it helped no-one. i was in a bad space and took it out all wrongly and it was also cos of Issues i have with this place that weren't the fault of some of the users i hassled so soz again some of u

i was diagnosed with autism twice and it's still no excuse lol. we gotta do our best, its a two way thing.

like raven is making a really valid point? most of the threads being posted either have no posts, or have people taking the mock of the original post which, if anything, is even worse for the original poster? if he wants replies and to really promote the discussion like he says (which is a great intention, and he does have enthusiasm, so yes he's a great member for those things), then maybe he could make, you know, productive threads? thats it, that's the only thing we're really saying.

cluttering the forums with non-constructive stuff isnt gonna help it. it's like filling a vase of water with only salt and then telling people on the verge of dehydration that it's all water. my two cents.

i mean, personally, seeing so many threads with like 0 replies and then said person having the most threads for that reason is kinda... idk, man. feels like a 'cheap' win (of something that is hardly contested, but i digress) and a bit spammy.

(i feel weird using real names on forums unless people specifically tell me so im gonna just write raven) like raven i kind of regret my last post and jsyk im not Mad or Grudgey or whatever and my post was probably Too Much. but i think you're being overly harsh on the dude. i dont wanna be all kind of Bringing Out Receipts but i kinda feel you have a Problem with the guy cos the "everyone is laughing at you and you cant see it" in that last thread was kind of gross and nasty as the dickens and dude even replied "yeh cos im blind" which may or may not have been literal, idk. and my dumb jokey stuff around it was totally lame ofc but idk it just Touched A Nerve with me too.

like i know you have your Ways and im tryin to respect those too but i think you're being overly harsh on the dude. idk if its cos of Stresses cos i know when i was dying with uni pressure and also had the wrong influences i was p nasty sometimes. i am not good at Other Peoples Thought Processes so this may not be the case with you i guess????

yah and so how do you feel when people get at you cos of the things you're Not So Good at and you dont quite get Why. the important thing re: autism is Correct Responsive/Pragmatic Support. every autist is very different and thats whats so tricky about the whole thing sometimes. im not trying to get at you here but i hope you can see what im getting at when i dont quite agree with the "well its no excuse" stuff idk

what goes into a productive thread exactly? thats my issue. just saying "make productive threads" isn't helpful to him. idk why people think we're making fun of him in his own topics cos i post earnestly in the few topics of his that i do post in. idk about everyone else but the name master owning about 80% of the topics doesnt' really bother me that much??????? like i think im missing a lot of the "we're actually all laughing at him" subtext here i guess

specially since only about 3-4 topics stay consistently active (first world problems, everyday accomplisments, photos thread, dunno bout the others) and the rest of them awkwardly drift off the page after about 10 or so replies. we're all kind of an awkward bunch at best and making topics we can all consistently talk in isn't easy.

I'm sorry, but we all have problems with social interaction.  I know I've told him there's better ways of going about it and even stated them in detail - but look at the way he responded to my post.  With an image saying "get wrecked."  You're seriously backing this up?  That's far from trying his best.

I've already done what I can do.  I'm not trying now because my attempts in the past have failed.  Let's not pretend I haven't tried.

Quotei mean i had a big dumb carepost here but if you can't get the "dude is a bit Affected like we all kind of are here" inference and kinda get that this place is kind of a Crap Social Skills Nerd Safe Space in lieu of anything else and some people here have Certain Ways then its just gonna be me and u arguing and getting all het up over "My Forums Posting Purity!!!!!11!11" and im SO not interested in that argument, sorry
No, I get that, but you're also encouraging some pretty spiteful behavior.  See:  his above post.  I'm not personally offended by his "get wrecked" thing, considering he's like 15, but I don't think you can really claim that he's innocent.  He definitely has problems that go beyond "socially awkward."

Quoteif you dont want to deal with him just ignore him?????? dont do the Fox News thing of reading his posts and topics and getting Mad about it if you got enough goddang stresses already. just ignore it. move on. maybe he'll get bored? maybe in a few months he'll make posts that please the hivemind? maybe he'll stumble on Posting Gold like CP's hank hill topic??????????? who knows.

Why do people continually suggest this?  I've been on this place for over half of my life and this place was actually a huge part of my growth, and I'm going to call out crappy threads like I see it.  "Just ignore it" is not a valid argument; I'm not going to ignore what is in actuality a problem, and I'm not going to ignore a 15 year old that can help this place become better that can make good threads but chooses not to.  This is also irrelevant, because I can't "just ignore it," clearly.  This is also similar advice to "don't feed the troll," which I'm clearly not the only one doing.

And the "hivemind"?  Come on, really?  There are issues with a thread like this.  Besides, it's been 6 months and he's not tired and he shows no sign of tiring out any time soon.  You are effectively enabling bad behavior.

I've talked to many autistic/aspergers 15 year olds and I understand plenty that everyone is different, but I've never seen someone as thick or hell even mean spirited as him.  Are you going to excuse Captain Jigglypuff for his crappy demeanor too because of his social problems?

Quotep.s. also does anyone else remember their Forums Posting Careers at the tender age of 16? i dunno if we're doing the Awkward Embarassment Projection thing that i used to do when i took my disgruntlement out on nerds on here in the past which i sorely regret cos it helped no-one. i was in a bad space and took it out all wrongly and it was also cos of Issues i have with this place that weren't the fault of some of the users i hassled so soz again some of u
Yes, and I have multiple forums that can vouch for me that I was not this bad.  I said a lot of dumb stuff, and I was far from an angel, but I was not anything like that, if you're truly asking for me to self-reflect.

I don't think you are realizing that this is completely crappy behavior compounded upon tone deafness.  I get that you kind of feel bad for the guy, but I don't think feeling bad for him should also correspond to saying things that make it seem like - to him - that you approve of the fact that he acts so childish.

Nothing personal at all from me, either.  However, there are quite a few people who sort of feed him to mock him, and frankly I thought you were doing that as well, but I didn't know that you sort of legitimately supported him.

No, I'm not lashing out at the dude, because I'm in a good place right now.  If it were just stress, then I have many, many other crappy people on other forums I could relieve it on.  It's not.  I can guarantee you that my viewpoint and sense of tact here has more to do with irritation at a user's tendencies than actual stress.

My stress comes out in other way, namely being too tired to post anywhere.  I'm just very blunt.

I know the rest of this post is not aimed at me, but here's my personal thing.  I tell them to tell me in more detail.

I have told him, in more detail and in private, the small things he can do.  At this point, I can tell he hasn't listened.  I have even said in other posts to not ignore the entire post, and not focus on the one little thing - and he's failed to follow that.  I told him that it makes more sense to reply to people who post in his threads instead of posting something completely new, and he did that for a little bit...  before forgetting and only responding to stuff that's not even relevant.  I should not be the best teacher for him.  Maybe if you understand where he's coming from, you can word it better, because you're significantly better socially than you think, considering we have an ongoing conversation that we don't continue because I keep forgetting.

What bothers me is that he has a really crappy attitude towards things.  I know I've been nice when I've given him advice in the past, and just because I am snippy now and I was snippy back then doesn't mean I wasn't nice to him in the past about these sorts of things.  And when I continued on, he simply, flat out, ignored them.  And that is more of a sign of a crappy attitude than anything.  I sincerely don't mind if someone is posting a ton and a bit of it is spammy - look at that Blaziken dude or whatever his name is now, I was honestly fine with him - but I know when I say something vague like that it's coming from a place of frustration from actually trying much harder a few months ago.  I have little to no patience for someone who won't listen.

These crappy threads he makes are a sign of this crappy attitude towards things.  You, personally, may not be mocking him but other people sort of are.

What is a productive thread?  Well, he made one; look here. (http://pkmn.net/forums/index.php?topic=106486.0)  However, this attitude of:

QuotePS: you all wanted a productive thread that encourages discussion, well, you got one! Now stop complaining!

Shows me that he may or may not be deliberately ignoring a lot of stuff we say.

QuoteAlso @Lord Raven Like other users have said, are you just going to tell me to make "productive threads" without any suggestions?
You know damn freaking well we've talked about this in detail over PM.  Let's not pretend I have not ever said anything to you that was much, much more substantial.

I totally get where you're coming from, but I don't feel like people creating threads should be such a problem. People shouldn't be afraid to make threads that sound REALLY stupid because they do sometimes end up invoking conversation -- like, look at that thread about Buffalo Chicken I made a few months back? "Snow"? What was that??

I understand exactly why you're annoyed but I'm worried about the whole overall effect. I don't know, I feel like all the new threads makes it loose and fresh... unpopular opinion.
