Title: Replaying Emerald
Post by: MegaNerd14 on September 20, 2016, 20:55
Yes, I'm replaying Emerald. I never got very far and it was very tedious. This is the new team, which I put more thought into.

Swampert
(https://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/black-white/anim/normal/swampert.gif)

Surf
Waterfall
Ice Beam
Earthquake

Item: Amulet Coin
Ability: Torrent

Swampert is the best starter to pick in this gen, hands down. I can't even count how many times I've mono-Pokemon ran the game with this thing when I had ruby. It was the very first Pokemon I've ever gotten to Level 100, and this was the exact moveset it had.

Gardevoir
(https://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/black-white/anim/normal/gardevoir.gif)

Psychic
Calm Mind
Shadow Ball
Protect

Item: King's Rock
Ability: Synchronise

Fast and powerful special attacker you can find really early game. Wally has one of these.

Heracross
(https://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/black-white/anim/normal/heracross.gif)

Megahorn
Brick Break
Facade
Bulk Up

Item: Black Belt
Ability: Guts

I really wanted to use this in White 2, but I couldn't. Good thing I can in emerald! Bit annoying to catch, though. :/

Magneton
(https://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/black-white/anim/normal/magneton.gif)

Thunderbolt
Thunder Wave
Metal Sound
Double Team

Item: Magnet
Ability: Sturdy

I love using this thing.

Banette
(https://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/black-white/anim/normal/banette.gif)

Shadow Ball
Screech
Curse
Will-O-Wisp

Item: Quick Claw
Ability: Insomnia

The first ever physical ghost type. Good thing Ghost is a physical type in this gen!

Crobat
(https://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/black-white/anim/normal/crobat.gif)

Fly
Confuse Ray
Sludge Bomb
Return

Item: Soothe Bell
Ability: Inner Focus

Just as awesome as it has ever been, Incredibly.

Credit goes to PokemonDB.net for the movesets and Psypokes.net for the held items.

It turns out that Frisk on Banette is impossible in this gen, making Rest unusable.  I replaced Frisk with Insomnia (Banette's only ability here) and Rest with Will-O-Wisp.

Only wishing to point out two things:

1) Waterfall is weaker than surf, a special attack like surf, and is unlikely to get the flinch when Swampert isn't that fast. Consider something else.

2) Shadow ball is still physical in this gen, Gardevoir would be able to benefit from a thunderbolt much better.
