Kurma
In Indian legends, a turtle called Kurma is sometimes shown carrying the world on it's back. I thought that this would be a good name for Torterra because of the tree in it's back and it's pokedex entry that stated that people thought that a huge Torterra lived beneath the ground.

As the continent Pokemon, Torterra carries a shell that other Pokemon have been known to spend their entire lives living upon, much like how we live our entire lives on the Earth. Since Atlas carried the Earth in Greek myth, this Torterra's name is Atlas.
