You probably know by now that be pressing B , Down and Select on the title screen of Gold and Silver (it doesn't work on Crystal), you can change the time and day.

But there is one small problem - you need a password to do so. One which is completely unique to your game, and one which changes depending upon the amount the cash you're currently carrying.

The internet is full of calculators that work out your password for you, but some people may prefer to know the manual way to do it. Below is the method you'll need, laid out in 4 easy steps:

Finding Your Password

Step 1 - Find the values of the first five letters your name contains in the table below, and add them up. If your name contains less than five letters, just add up all the letters anyway. Remember that the method IS case sensitive. The values are:

For example, if my name was MIKE (which it is), I'd have 140+136+138+132=546.

Step 2 - Look at the amount of money you are currently carrying (sod what Mum has). Divide this total by 256, adding any remainder you may get to the total.

For example, if I was carrying [p]1000, I'd do 1000 / 256=3 and a remainder of 232. I then add 3 and 232, to give me a total of 235.

Step 3 - Repeat the above method, but using your Trainer ID Number this time.

For example, my Trainer ID is 30000. 30000 / 256= 117 and a remainder of 48. I then add 117 to 48, to give me a total of 165.

Step 4 - Add all your totals together to give a 5 digit number. That number is your code. If your final total is less than 5 digits long, just add 0's to the front to make it one.

For example, in my case, my result would be 546+235+165=946. 946 is not a 5 digit number, so my final code would be 00946.

There we go. Easy when you know how, isn't it?
