I've
just got back from my holiday in France, so I'm writing this
report to tell you about what our
politoad-real-life-counterparts-close-amphibian-relative-legs-eating-friends
(ie: the French), have to do with Pokémon in their country...
- A soft drink called 'Pschitt' is running a Pokémon promotion. Say the name out-loud and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised when your parents start yelling at you. I have no further information on this.
- The french Walkers, Croky, are running a Pokémon Tazo promotion. In the large bag of spaghetti bolognaise crisps we bought thinking they were salt and vinegar (don't ask), I got a Wobbuffet! For more on this, go to the Tazo section.
- There are tonnes of those machines where you put in a pound (in the UK, 10 francs in France), and turn the handle, and get an egg shaped capsule with a Pokémon model in. There are four different series of models, one of which has models of the characters in!
- At Nice airport, in the Tabac (a news agents), they were selling Pokémon and Digimon teddy-type-things. The large Pikachu was about £8!
- Also in news agents, were Pokémon magazines. There was the comic (NOT manga), of Pokémon 2: The movie (Pokémon the movie 2000 this side of the channel). I also spotted puzzle books and sticker books (the same ones as we have here only in French). I bought an issue of 'D Mangas' which had Pokémon, Digimon, Dragonball GT, and Card captors in to name a few.
- Finally, I have noticed that Dragonball (GT mainly), is really, really popular at the moment, the same as with Spain. And the worst bit was, not a trace of Gundam Wing!!
