Lets just hope the guy above isn't a new Pokémon.
Yesterday,
Japan saw its biggest Pokémon event of the year begin- Pokémon Festa 2002!
This potentially annual festival appears to feature all aspects of Pokémon,
from the games, to the TV show, to the card game. This years event is made more
important because it is expected that a lot of details about Pokémon Ruby and
Sapphire will be announced.
On
the first day in the first location, nothing happened. This said, Pokémon Ruby
and Sapphre was playable for the first time, so people could experience an early
version of what they'll be playing around Christmas time. The rest of the world
is jealous of the bloody Japanese.

Apart
from the games, you could play others at the massive TCG game that is
"done" in the west by Wizards of the Coast. You could also fight gym
leaders, such as the super charged Lt Surge and Erika.

Perhaps
more exciting than the Ruby and Sapphire news of the show(!), is that there is a
Pokémon Stage Show! With songs! According to the website it is
"pleasant" and is putting out "ones" the fullest capacity! I
guess even in the age of translators that aren't as good as those from Star
Trek, there will still be a language barrier. There is also a diorama
featuring scenes from the first Pokémon movie, Mewtwo Strikes Back.
Also on show was the Gamecube's Super Smash Bros Melee, which has been out for some time, and some games that appear to be specially made of the show- a lottery game and a Pokémon "Quoits" game. For pictures see the gallery.
