Ranger Walkthrough: Part 2 |

After your mission, you and Solana decide to go patrol Ringtown. Upon leaving the Ranger Base, you hear a familiar cry, and Solana goes to check it out. She calls you over to see that Minun is being chased by Larry's Taillow. You decide to capture Taillow again to calm it down, and Minun will paralyse it for you. When you capture it, Larry explains why Taillow was chasing Minun, saying that Minun was jealous of Taillow and annoyed it. He thinks that Minun is lonely, and accepts it's apology, before leaving. Shortly afterwards, Minun decides to join you, and you become emotionally attached, making it your partner. You and Solana then get back to patrolling, with Minun.

After patrolling, return to the Ranger Base. Spenser will recognise the Minun as the same one from before, and recognises it as your partner Pokemon. He will then give an explanation of partner Pokemon. Solana will then teach you what Minun can do in battle, since her Plusle can do the same. She explains that to use your partner Pokemon, you need partner energy, which is gained from drawing loops around wild Pokemon. By pressing the screen at the bottom right, you can touch Minun to activate it's power, paralysing the Pokemon for a short period of time. The time the enemy is paralysed depends on how much energy Minun has. You can also use the powers of other Pokemon in this screen.

After her explanation, Solana will go to patrol Lyra Forest again. A man named Professor Hastings will enter the base, saying he got lost in Lyra Forest again. Spenser will then introduce you to the professor. Spenser will then mention a styler that Hastings left with him, called the Super Styler, and says that it is outstanding. He also expresses his worry for it, saying it would be dangerous in the hands of criminals. Hastings will reassure Spenser, saying only the Ranger leaders know it exists. He then says it is a prototype, before telling him that he has thought of a way of powering it up. Before the conversation continues, Spenser asks you to go upstairs to check on his Fearow. Way to spoil the fun...!

You check on Fearow, and find out that it is still resting from carrying both you and Spenser, so Hastings will need to walk back to Fall City. Spenser asks you to escort Hastings to Fall City, making this your first official mission. You need to travel through Lyra Forest and through the Krokka Tunnel to reach Fall City. Make your way to Lyra Forest to begin the mission.

As soon as you enter the forest, a Bellsprout will walk up to you. After catching it, Hastings will teach you about Poke Assists, which is using the abilities of captured Pokemon in battle. He explains that there are two kinds of Poke Assists; one uses the Pokemon's moves, and the other changes the power of the capture line, making it more useful. For example, Bellsprout, being a grass type Pokemon, will make the capture line change to allow you to create grass to trap enemy Pokemon. Poke Assists only last a small amount of time, so use them wisely. By checking a Pokemon's type, you can find out what Poke Assist it can use. At the moment, you can only use certain Poke Assists, but as you gain in strength, you will be able to use more. After the demonstration, continue through Lyra Forest.

As you proceed, Hastings will teach you about the water Poke Assist also. You will then need to clear the path using a Torchic by burning some hay. As you continue, you will find a Pichu. By using it's ability, you can recharge your styler, in the field or in battle. I recommend keeping an Electric type Pokemon with you at all times if you can, as this ability will come in handy. As you near the end of Lyra Forest, you will find a Fallen Log which needs to be removed using a Fire Type move with a power of 2. Back track a little, and a Combusken will appear from the bushes. I recommend using Mudkip's Poke Assist to capture it, as Combusken is tough and Water Poke Assists are powerful against Fire types. Use Combusken to burn away the log, and enter the Krokka Tunnel.

To begin with, Krokka Tunnel is easy to get through. Hastings will approach a Dugtrio, causing an earthquake that will separate you both. You will need to go around the rocks, so capture a Paras to cut down the fence in the way of the other path. As you continue, you can find Magnemite, which are as powerful as Pichu. Keep both around for when you need them. In the next area, you will find some small ponds and some Poliwag. Capture one, but they can be tricky. Using a grass Poke Assit may help if you are struggling. If you approach the Poliwag, they will try to go underwater, so get them quickly. If not, exit the area and go back in before trying again. When you leave this area, you will see some people approach Professor Hastings, and they introduce themselves as the Go-Rock Squad. They steal the Super Styler as you watch, so you go after them.

When you approach them, they reveal the rock fall was their doing, not Dugtrio's. They cause another rock fall, but instead of keeping you away, they trap you in with them. They run off again, so you give chase. You will find yourself at the exit of the Tunnel, bringing you towards Fall City. You will see an enraged Rhydon, presumably because of the Go-Rock Squad. It is your job to capture it. Use Water and Grass Poke Assists, and it should be easy. After capturing it, you release it, and realise the Go-Rock Squad would have escaped by now. You decide to go to Fall City and think of what to do. When you leave, you will be prompted to release the wild Pokemon, because you cannot bring them out of their natural habitats. Release them, and proceed to Fall City.

As soon as you enter Fall City, you come across the Ranger Base. Your mission is complete, but you are saddened by the loss of the Capture Styler. Hastings reminds you that your mission was not to protect the styler, but to protect him, which means he completed his mission. You will then accept your accomplishment, and the mission will be cleared. You are then approached by a man on a Dodrio, revealed to be Joel, the leader of the Fall City Ranger Base. Hastings will tell him the situation, before entering the Ranger Base to discuss the situation in more detail.
