Well maybe. A developer is pitching the idea to our Nintendo friends based on WiiWare.

You've wanted a Pokémon MMO (Massive Multiplayer Online) go on admit it. Think about it - roaming a virtual world with Pokémon, a bit like the ever so famous World of Warcraft - similarities such as this will deprive you of a social life and have you yelling online jargon such as 'n00b' at your screen while your parents cry into their copies of the Daily Mail over how the internet is ruining teenagers. Sounds lovely doesn't it?
Apparently you're not the only ones who likes the idea, Nnooo (yes that is their real name), who have already ventured into the WiiWare service in the form of um.. Pop, is pitching the idea to Nintendo, as shown on their website. While the idea of a Pokémon MMO on WiiWare might no be everyone's cup of tea, it would be appreciated as a step foward. Good luck to you guys!
Are we expecting anything to come out of this? Well probably not, but hopefully this will influence Nintendo! Who knows, perhaps they'll get cracking on one for us after the rumoured Animal Crossing MMO. Or perhaps they'll finally reveal that Real-Life Pokémon, we're on to you guys..

Best. Line. Ever.
sounds interesting but i honestly cant see it being very practical...i wud imagine it to be similar to snap only with more newbs running around with nooby poke's looking to trade for ledgendaries or something -.-'
Oh yeah, go Aussie gaming industry!
And dont forget its been on nintencast for 2-3 days give them credit aswell
I've probably been one to cry out for this sort of thing before, but I fear that deviating too far from the norm would result in Pokemon becoming warped and losing the parts that make it fun...I'm sceptical about this. I would say that I hope it is made so that I could give it a go, but then what if it proves more successful for reasons OTHER than those that made Pokemon successful in the first place? I'm sure some of us have played Pokemon Crater which seems wonerful at first, but after a few days, you notice how crap and repetitive it is. I would hope that if they do go ahead with something like this, they make it just an MMO of everything that works and not include too many different functions.
(The irony is in the name - I do waffle on...)
I agree. It sounds like a fun idea at first, but I have a feeling it would ruin the feel of Pokemon games. I'll stick with my handheld Pokemon games, thank you very much. =)
Hooray! This sounds extremely interesting. We need to learn...MORE!
i always wanted a pokemon MMO. as long as its done well.
No don't catch me, is wrong for a Pokemon to live in Earth?
All the Ledyba. It can only be one man...
Sounds... curious. Sure make event pokemon more acessable. Just have them as actual in-game events; one every month and you can only do it once.
Or something.

I read it up on GamesRader who credited Computer and Video games.
it sound like fun. if it is godd you might get the feeling that you live in that world more than the video games.
I would love that if nintendo made a pokemon MMO game for the Wii. The idea of it sounds like a massive great idea and i'm going to preorder it now because I want it so much right now.
Yeah! Pokemon mmo!
my parents don't read the daily mail
we only take the sun
Yeah, um, no. The only thing that really keeps this franchise going are the games. They screw up that portion of the Pokeuniverse and it could spell disaster.
If they can pull it off though, I would like to see it work.
