GenConEurope will be hosting the British qualifying rounds to the world Pokémon TCG championships this year. Big news!

This news item is more than 45 days old. Updates are unlikely and newer information may already be available.

GenConEurope is going to be a massive consumer gaming event that will have games, Sci-Fi and fantasy stuff, and perhaps more importantly, the Pokémon World Championships British qualifying rounds!

Geeks, nerds and Trekkies can expect to unite in a celebration of the grey arts: Sci-fi, gaming and Pokémon, between Friday April 18th and Monday April 21st- in other words, the Easter weekend. It'll be held at the Olympia 2 Convention Centre in London.

Apart from the Pokémon TCG frolics, you'll be able to watch a seminar hosted by "industry celebrities" (probably the guy who auditioned the brother of the one from Star Trek without a name). You can also see some art, bid in an auction or even make a fool of yourself in the costume contest.

Anyway, if you win the big Pokémon qualifiers, apart from winning the chance to be world champion, you get a trip to, and a hotel to stay in at the World championship in Seattle later this year.

It sounds like its going to be great- and PUK will probably have a presence there somehow.

Thanks to Team UK for this news!
