so with the imminent release of oras in australia I'm considering picking up one of the new 3ds xl+pokemon, as they both come out next week. being that's it's the first game I've played properly since diamond probably, there are heaps of changes that I don't know about.

what are the big differences, new mechanics and stuff coming from 4 to 6 gen? also any other games you might recommend picking up for 3ds?

Personality: Generally friendly, Blake sometimes becomes frustrated due to insult or having to much to do. Easy to make friends, although, despises those who think they are 'all-that'.  He knows who to stay away from and is not afraid to voice his opinion. He is sometimes ridiculed for his intelligence by those who think it is funny.

History: Growing up in a remote coastal community in Kanto, Blake had many friends and everyone knew everyone. During a Summer Festival, a Giant Gyarados, enraged by Fisherman off the coast, attacked. Many of the houses were destroyed, many people died. His family, luckily flew to Cinnabar Island, on Blake's Pigeot, it was really his Father's, but Blake liked to think of it as his own. Many people were looking out to the shore at Cinnabar, the Scientists having warned the people that there was a Pokemon on rampage out to sea. When Blake and his family landed on the beach of Cinnabar, they were immediately taken into the Pokemon Center. Nurse Joy told them that the Pokemon Trainers of this town had travelled to the Island as soon as they heard the news. Due to the efforts of our townsfolk, some of your people have been saved. A sigh of relief could of been heard throughout the Pokemon Center. "Your Pigeot was very brave, it isn't in the best condition, but we have hopes for it." Nurse Joy said. At this moment, Blake felt mildly better at that point, knowing that Pigeot will be OK, and maybe, his friends would be as well. Having no where to go Nurse Joy let them have a room at the Center, "Your lucky you got one, you know. There are many more people who need a room to sleep in tonight."Nurse Joy said. She turned to Blake's parents and told them the situation, Blake would have liked to known what had happened, but, sleep overtook him, the lat words he heard were; "Mister and Misses Scorch, I'm sorry to say, but you were one of only 2 families to make it back alive..." Blake went to sleep with terrible thoughts in his mind. People drowning in colossal waves, bigger then they had ever seen, being blinded by the glare of Gyarados's Hyper Beam. It was all to much, he woke up panting, his parents were gone, his siblings, Chris and Clair were gone, it was only he and Pigeot left in the room. It was a nightmare, for sure, he thought. He knew it was not... In that room, a boy, only 6 years of age, had the most terrible feeling anyone could possibly have. He felt so alone, he felt rejected, he felt homeless...

He found out that his family had needed to go to the hospital. They were very ill, they had been almost frozen when they had taken the twilight flight, they had all bunched around Blake, as he was the youngest, to make him warm. Blake felt responsible for what had happened, he headed over to the hospital to see how they were doing. He found them in a room, all together. They seemed fine, he thought, but when he touched them he thought otherwise. He felt like he was going to cry, but he was a grown-up boy now he thought. His Father told him about his dream that he always had, go to far-off lands and become a Pokemon trainer. With a great sense of family-pride, he took on his father's dream as his own.

He stayed under study off Professor Oak in Pallet Town, where he stayed until he was 10, the certified age in which you could become a Pokemon Trainer. Having spent 4 years with the Pokemon of Professor Oak's Pokemon, he already felt comfortable with them. He told Oak how he wanted to go to somewhere exciting, not like Kanto, as he had travelled with Oak for a long time and had seen most of the Region. "Hmm... Johto, my good friend Elm, he is a Pokemon Professor there. I am sure you 2 will get along." Oak then pulled out a map of Johto. This is the place I want to go, Blake thought to himself. Oak arranged a ticket for him on the SS. Anne. Soon he was setting sail to Johto, were he would begin his Pokemon Journey.

When he arrived at port in Olivine City, he was greeted by Elm, who had a flying-type Pokemon that Blake had not seen before. "You must be Blake,"Said Elm."Oak has told me a lot about you," "Says you quite the Pokemon Whiz."
"Yes, I am Blake. Also, I wouldn't considered my self a Whiz." Blake said, modestly.
"OK,"He chuckled "Well, lets go then."
As they mounted the Pokemon Blake thought to himself, I wonder what kind of Pokemon this is... Almost answering his question, Elm explained that this was a Staraptor, from the Sinnoh region. Blake hadn't heard of the Sinnoh region before.

They arrived at New Bark Town, where the Professors Lab is. "Now Blake, we are going to get you a Pokemon."Elm said.
This is what Blake had been waiting for, he was finally going to get a Pokemon. After meeting the team at the lab, Elm took Blake into his office were he had 3 Pokeballs. "Now Blake,"he said, quite formally,"this is Chikorita, this is Totodile, and this is Cyndaquil." As he listed off their names he would release them from there Pokeballs. Carefully, looking at each Pokemon, thinking of their strengths, thinking of their weaknesses. After a time of thought, he choose Cyndaquil. "So, Cyndaquil it is,"Elm said, handing the Pokeball to Blake."This is the beginning of your journey."

Now at the age of 13, Blake is training in Goldenrod City, where he has permanent accommodation at the Pokemon Center. the kids of Goldnerod are not kind to him, calling him a homeless weirdo. Blake knows that he could easily take them on in a Pokemon Battle, and defeat them. After all they are only 11 and 12.

Typhlosion Lv. 37
Gender:Male
Nature: Modest
Moves: Flamethrower, Flare Blitz, Extremespeed, Lava Plume, Crunch.
History:Blake's Cyndaquil evolved into a Quilava during the Azalea Gym Battle with Bugsy. Later, Quilava evolved into Typhlosion during the Olivine Gym Battle, where it was down to Quilava vs Steelix. Blake likes to think of Typhlosion as the fore-runner of his team.

Pigeot Lv. 38
Gender: Male
Nature: Rash
Moves: Fly, Extremespeed, Wing Attack, Air Strike, Sky Attack.
History:This is the same Pigeot that saved his families lives. Blake does not know much about Pigeot, as it was his fathers.

Blissey Lv. 36
Gender: Female, Shiny
Nature: Hasty
Moves: Softbolied, Doubleslap, Shadowball, Rollout, Egg Bomg
History: Given to Blake as a Happiny Egg from the Pokemon Center, he trained her in the field and evolved her into a Blissey. She is also shiny so Blake prides her.

Misdreavus Lv. 35
Gender: Female
Nature: Lonely
Moves: Pain Split, Destiny Bond, Shadow Ball, Psybeam, Grudge, Dark Pulse
History: Found on the steps of the Pokemon Center, Given to Blake to look after.
