multiple problems with my laptop
« on: August 09, 2014, 00:42 »
I got my laptop - a Windows 8 Sony Vaio - for Christmas and in the past month I've had two unrelated problems with it. Any help for either of the following problems would be appreciated.

1. Problem with the sound.
The sound just won't play. Nothing happens when I tell it to make a sound. (No, I haven't got it on mute) It doesn't work with speakers or headphones and not a single sound, system or otherwise happens ever. I went on Spotify and got a error notice saying that my "Sound Card" was broken. If anyone knows what this is and what I can do about the sound problem, I'd love your help.

2. Problem with my files.
My laptop has stopped letting me into my Library (Documents, Music, Pictures, Videos) from any location. If I for example were to try and open My Documents I get the following error notice:
Documents.library-ms is no longer working.
This library can be safely deleted from your computer.
Folders that have been included will not be affected.

Del told me to delete the Libraries and I tried to but the delete button was all greyed out. Any help at all, as before, is very welcome.

hello friends we have resolved both issues

the 1st one was resolved through a Realtek Driver update available from the Sony website, was simple enough, probably should have tried that first but i tried everything else ever before that zzzzzzz

2nd issue was resolved by the delete button randomly working after this thread was posted but removing the library fixed it without issue

My mom bought me this new laptop and it gets really hot when the chat is being spammed. Now my leg is starting to hurt because it is getting so hot. Please, if you don't want me to get burned, then don't spam the chat.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Did you try turning it off and back on again?

it's a shame this way of fixing things isn't as useful as it once was =[

So the sound came back last night and it was all great. It told me I had to restart for everything to be tickety-boo so I did and it was all perfect sunshine and daisies but idk what's happened it was about 1 and a half hours ago when I rebooted it and now the sound has completely gone again (although it was working up until about 5 minutes ago).

What the actual heck.
