Sorry to ruin all this talk, but I was watching "The unquiet dead" S1 E3.
And Gwenth said "All those people rushing about. Half naked, for shame. And the noise... and the metal boxes racing past... and the birds in the sky... they're metal as well. Metal birds with people in them. People flying. And you - you've flown so far, further than anyone! The things you've seen... the darkness... the big bad wolf-- "
Now either that is a very long plan (unlikly because at this point she was not supposed to leave in season 2) or it is the biggest coinkydink in history

Umm... well, 'Bad Wolf' was the arc word for that series.. Cropping up in almost every episode, and being fully explained at the end!

What an excellent episode.

Little things I loved include the Richard Dawkins cameo, the return of Harriet Jones, mad Dalek Caan singing, Martha doing anything, the reference to Mr Copper, and Rose's Theme when they ran together.

I'm almost certain there won't be a real regeneration - I've put money on it!

It just seems... silly, even for Doctor Who, does it not? o.o

Hmm, well I don't think so really. After all, we're made partly of fat! And as I said, they aren't the villains/monsters of the story.. It's not like they're in the same role as the Werewolf in Tooth and Claw.

And we've had 'silly' before.. the Slitheen, the Azorbaloff, et cetera.

Some of the most interesting stories are often those with ambiguous villains. I mean, ones that aren't just all "BLAH I'm going to take over/destroy the world!!". Like, Girl in the Fireplace, or Gridlock.

I was referring to the fact RTD somehow found the need to include creatures MADE OF FAT.

And so what? What's wrong with creatures made of fat?

They weren't monsters, they were Adipose children. There 'breeding' planet had been lost, but Miss Foster knew that breeding on a class 5 planet was illegal under the darkness thing, but ignored it, and Stacey died of a result.

But.. they aren't monsters. If there's any villain at all, it's Miss Foster.

Edit: And simply making a statement about the episode's content doesn't actually say anything to back up your thoughts or opinions.

I noticed Bad Wolf way before Boom Town.

Didn't say noone noticed it at all, it's just we didn't notice it every single time, and many didn't at all.

What was THAT? Adipose? Erm, IMO, that was a BAD opening episode.

Qualify that statement? Back it up?

Could you tell me what moral ambiguity is?

Like, not really clear whether they're good or bad.. Just doing what they do for the reasons they do them. I mean, Miss Foster thought she was just doing her job. There was a good end, even via less than savoury means. And the Adipose weren't evil, were they - as the Doctor said, they couldn't help where they came from. So what I meant was, the 'villains' aren't really all good or all bad.. or really villains at all. It was ambiguous.

Didnt see or hear anything that might be repeated episode after episode like the other 3 things.

Just you watch, Rose wondering about in Roman get up next week... XD

I guess... and I wouldn't complain about that. 

But you don't know what we might have missed.. after all, how many times did we really pick up on it saying 'Bad Wolf' until it was spelt out for us in Boom Town?

Unique.. and utterly ridiculous.

Besides, moral ambiguity's the key thing with this episode's antagonists.

So I take it Rose ll be this series's equivalent to Bad Wolf, Torchwood and Mr Saxon then?

What makes you say that? Lots of people are, but I wonder why?

There's not really much to suggest she'll feature again until episode 11.

Remember that this was a first episode, concerned with establishing relationships and setting up arcs for the remainder of the series.

The plot in this episode is secondary to that. I think we can expect fantastic plot ideas this series.

(especially with a Moffat two-parter! )

Ahhh, that was fantastic, as Nine would say.

Really enjoyed that episode, re-introduced Donna well. It was one of the better series-openers, on a par with last year's, I think. Judoon Platoon.. on the mooon.. Yeah.

Miss Foster was an excellent 'villain', Sarah Lancashire played her wonderfully, she seemed to be enjoying it. The adipose looked 'cute' and Cbeebies-esque, sure, but wasn't that the point? They weren't meant to be threatening. It was a light, fun episode.

Yeah, more on that. There were some great 'comedy moments', like the mouthed conversation through the windows, and the shot pulling out to reveal everyone in the office watching. And Miss Foster's Looney Tunes style death was fun. Oh, and Grandad Wilf, he was played brilliantly by Bernard Cribbins, especially in the closing moments as they flew off - and he clearly recognised The Doctor from Voyage of the Damned.

Great stuff.

Oh, and..

Rose!!!!!

We all knew she was coming back, but who expected her that early? Why'd she look so sad.. and, wow, she can fade in and out!

Fantastic. 8/10.

Lumic was a bit over-hammed for what was meant to be quite a dark/sinister episode, I thought.

I can't remember whether he really said "FROM BEYOND THE GRAAAVE!", or if it's just apocryphal.
