As much as I'd love to play up to the paradigm that the football league is for the proper supporters, I can't help but feel it gets used condescendingly by the fans of the smaller clubs, intentionally so as well, in the same way that fans of football get patronised by those who don't follow the sport; "oh, football, heh". We get that you support a side that isn't winning everything, that isn't highlighted in every news broadcast, but that doesn't make you any greater of a fan to your side than I can be to mine. The wonderful thing about the sport is that it can be followed in so many different sports, but we're all part of the same cause.

Any 'supporter' who peers down their nose at the lower leagues as though they're just cute, pretenders, are superficial and not true supporters of the sport. But I usually find it's usually those who latch onto trends who are the worst for it, supporting whoever is the 'in-thing' at the time, Barcelona one season then Real Madrid the next. Casuals, although that does no justice to the term casuals. You'll always find a minority in every majority.
