tvtropes seems to agree TWEWY and Ace Attorney are cult classics. It can't really be a classic if it isn't known to some extent, otherwise you're just looking for unknown games which are good. Buying AA nowadays is hard, nowhere seems to stock the game at all, same with TWEWY, they have a lot of fanart but they're not all that well known.
I would expect such petty and low-quality sarcasm from a newbie, but not from you.I think TVTropes is okay to read at times (too much gushing and they exaggerate things a lot), but I don't consider it that reliable. Having that said, you do have a point, but I just find it a little bit odd to consider these Cult Classic games considering the amount of gushing the general internet populace does over these particular games.I could make the pricing on amazon argument and how TWEWY is like 15 bucks and SH1/2 cost generally big bucks (SH2 can be 20 dollars but the fact remains that there are people selling it for 50+ dollars and there are people who are willing to bite), but then you remember Drakengard is terrible and there were some people who were selling it for less than the cost of shipping. Hmm.
It was an obvious joke, why would I list any Mario game as a cult classic, least of all the first Super Mario Bros? >_>
Fair enough, I wouldn't cite TVTropes as a definitive source by any means though I do think that now games WILL get a decent amount of exposure no matter who's interested (Thanks to various websites keeping track of almost every release and the general surge in popularity of games over time) the cult classic goalposts will have to be moved slightly wider for the newer titles.
Cult games? Definitely Oddworld. Not gonna lie, Abe's Odyssey is one of the best games I have ever played. Mostly because it was so obscure it stuck with me from a young age.
