I want to say Pokemon, but I feel like the games don't accurately portray just how terrifying living in the world of Pokemon would actually be. You're more likely to die at any given moment than you are to... anything else. So my answer is Hyrule. There's so much to find, I'd just love exploring the land.

In the first case, just google it. In the second, I have read many theories and I have lived too little to get any barely clear idea; and I don't think most of us will get it.

In my opinion its due to the fact that we are social animals. In order to keep a hierarchy some sort of intelligence is demanded, and you must know your place in particular. You'll notice that a lot of animals that are self aware or can learn to be self aware are usually social animals.
