"Well, if that's the case," I say as I stand and look up at Nikolai, "I got the wrong impression of you when we first met.  If your mates here want to join, they're free to do so."  I check the lighting of the sky.  "We'll have to wait until night falls.  Less activity from normal folk."

I come to my senses and stand up slowly. "Chloe still hasn't responded since the attack started." I said "So, what will you do, Chloe?"

I had been quietly watching the scene take place, weighing up my options,

"I join you!" I direct this speech at Soifra, I might as well acknowledge her existence while I'm at it.

"Ok, great!" I say. Then, something hits me, something that man said. "Guys, I just remembered something. Not to be naive or paranoid, but the biomancer, not Chloe, of course, said to beware the one that walks both paths, day and night. I'm positive he's referring to me."

I raise an eyebrow at the other boy - Edan, I think his name is - and give an amused smile.

"Who doesn't walk both paths?" I ask.  "I hardly imagine anyone would isolate themselves to just three paths of magic.  Well, save for the more extreme of 'loyalist' warlocks."  I take another glance at the body.  I can sense some spec of life still there, but I can not tell if it's still in the attacker or just a sign that it used to be.  "Unless he meant something more cryptic."

"I mean at one point, I was a night warlock, a necromancer, to be exact." I respond

I fire a fireball, as a subtle reminder to Edan that not all follow one path. "And my parents are day warlocks. Doesn't make me a danger to society" I state, and then I add jokingly "at least, not my magic"

"Wow, just wow. I already told you what happened in my past, Nikolai."

"I have to say that I wouldn't live to be a warlock now if it weren't for, 'the stain on the magical community' that is 'night magic'."  A wallet hovers next to my head and raise an eyebrow at Nikolai.  "It serves me well.  Speaking of which, I think this is yours."  I let the wallet float back to Nikolai, a smirk on my face.

[Wolstenholme]

"I think we have all dabbled with magic that is not ours. I think what Edan means is that he has walked both paths completely at some point in his life. I however also think that the Biomancer meant someone who is walking both paths as we speak. Someone who practices all magic constantly." I leave this hanging on the air and lean back against the wall. Looking at Soifra and Nikolai.

"Yes, that's what I meant Chloe. Also, Siofra, please don't levitate my wallet next time." I remember another detail of my past, "Also, my mom was a day warlock, and my dad was a night warlock."

((I changed Siofra's victim to Nikolai to give Edan a small break.  Plus she's still fighting him, technically... IN A BATTLE OF WILLS AND SNARK!))

"From what I've experienced, your family tree can never truly determine your hemispheres."  I fold my arms and look up at the sky.  "Though I suppose in this kind of situation, it may mean something.  Anyway, back to business."

I spot the nearest way out of the area and gesture towards it.  "Nikolai, you are a local, right?  Any chance you know of a good place to eat before we break into a high security area?"

"Of course, I'll even pay if you let me have my wallet back" I say, tryin nt to rise to her teasing. "It's an Italian. You all okay with that?" I say, not actually expecting a negative response.

"I'm not picky.  I've learned not to be."  I take one last look at the tree.  It's soothing, in some strange way.  Not in the same way as trees apt for hiding in within forests.  Then again, it was technically magic, so maybe that was why.  "We have hours to kill, so to speak."

"Great. I can take you down my favourite street." I see there expressions are saying 'favourite street?'...

"Trust me, you'll see what I mean" I say, rather excitedly, as I start to walk off.
