Want your opinions on dark-type moveslot for Drapion please:

Night Slash (70 damage + high critical hit ratio), Sniper ability holding Razor Claw

OR

Crunch (80 damage), Sniper ability holding Black Sludge

(Other moves: Poison Jab, Earthquake and Swords Dance. Jolly nature, maxed EVs in attack and speed)

Is this in game or competitive?

If ingame, I'd say Night Slash - it has a 50% crit rate with Razor Claw sooooo...

If competitive, I'd say.... Neither. Knock Off is superior, having 65 BP x1.5 if they have an item (always) AND gets rid of their item.

competitive.. well, I'm building a team to use against a few of my friends. I hadn't considered knock off... good idea! still, this hasn't made my mind up I still have two pretty good options.. maybe I should just smash some rocks and make sure a have a large supply of heart scales.. lol..

It's worth noting also that Critical Hits will ignore their positive defense modifiers.

Crunch also has the nice side effect of lowering their defence occasionally, which could come in useful.

Basically:

Crunch: 80 BP, 6.25% chance to be 180 BP, 10% chance to lower their defence

Night Slash: 70 BP, 50% chance to be 157.5 BP

Knock Off: 65 BP, 97.5 BP if they're holding an item, knocks off item, 6.25% chance to be 146.25 (219.375) BP

don't forget the boost from Sniper! this is why I'm kinda slightly swayed towards Night Slash... or did you include that in your calculations..?

cheers for helping to figure out all this btw. Knock Off looks like a really good option but... 50% chance to inflict 157.5 damage is really tempting ;o

wait.. if Knock Off is used on a foe with an item, and it's a critical hit, it'll do 219 damage? that's insane. what's the chance of a critical hit with Razor Claw?

I did include sniper, don't worry. Sniper is only x2.25 now, not x3 like last gen, which is why it looks a little low.

Critical chances go like this:
Base: 6.25%
+1 (from item or just a high crit move): 12.5%
+2 (Focus Energy, or an item AND high crit move): 50%
+3 (Focus Energy AND either item or high crit move): 100%

wow, both really good options. Don't think I'm gonna use crunch, but I'll probably switch between Night Slash and Knock Off as long as I have enough heart scales. cheers
