hey guys and gals and nonbinary pals, im thinking about writing a Pokemon fanfiction soon. Essentially it's going to be a Pokemon coordinator fic rather than the usual trainer only sort of deal, but since I love world building there's going to be some of that too. parts might be influenced by the Demi lovato or Kim kardashian games tho. I'm a sucker for them

You can submit as many characters as you want, and you could either insert yourself if you were a trainer or simply just one of your OCs.



Details
It's been roughly 5 years since the events of HGSS (8 since generation 1), and the Pokémon contest scene has exploded into the public eye in Johto. Stars have risen and fallen, and Kiku really wants to be a part of the former. This is a coming of age fic similar in tone to the pokemon anime, albeit longer.



What you get:
- your character may get to appear in the fanfiction; and probably more than once, too! relevance varies of course - they may be an 'extra' in one chapter, one of the main characters in the next, etc.
- full credit for your character, obviously, because I'm not a monster.
- early access to the 'informational blog' & notified in advance before a chapter is published
- crossover potential, if your character is already in a fic of their own or you're planning on it.

what I get:
- the permission to use your character(s)
- (some) artistic freedom to fill in the blanks, should it come up.
- a bigger character cast! (Note that I've already made a number of characters and such)

What I'm looking for:
- coordinators, particularly those specialising in one of the five contest types (beauty, cool, cute, tough, smart/clever). you're not confined to one contest type - just that those who prefer one may become a mentor type, if you desire.

- celebrities. I mean I'll be having many of the canon characters so may or drew might show up for example, but I'm also looking for OC celebrities. maybe your character is a model, a champion, or an actor. maybe their band played at a wedding of royalty. maybe you invented a unique way to use a Pokemon (eg using a certain Pokemon as a food cooking and delivery service, or something). in regards to the main story, stylists, make up artists, fashion designers and the like are nice to have. being a manager of an uprising star or perhaps submitting that uprising star... that kind of stuff. oh, and judges, since there's going to be a lot more contests happening.

- press / paparazzi. I've set up one news outlet and they'll be popping up pretty early, but I don't want them to monopolise, either. they're an online news outlet. TV shows, newspapers, magazines, small time vlogs? I'm all game.

Stayed at home for a year relaxing until she headed to Hoenn when she was 18, discovering (and loving) contests. Stayed a fan as she moved around Hoenn, finishing in the top 8 in the championship. Did not go for badges in Sinnoh but explored the region until returning home aged 20, before she began taking part in small contests to test her skill. Friends: Not many; an ex-schoolfriend, Tatyana Hayek, is quite unreliable.  Some of her classmates are easy to talk to; Celia Moffet, an earnest perfectionist she's known since she was six is one.  A second is Ekaterina Khovanskaya, who starts a lot of drama by telling lies and staying passive but has a good heart.
Family: Grew up in a nuclear family; two parents and a brother.  Very close to her brother (Huw), and her mum. Both parents work until at least eight in the evening, and Huw no longer lives at home, so she is able to function independently.  Mother is very sensitive and can be volatile.  Father is tacit, and once had an affair.
Childhood: Not much to speak of, here; ADHD went undiagnosed until she turned 16, so school was often a trouble.  That said, it should be noted that she was intelligent which masked many symptoms until she started manifesting depression and anxiety.  Could read and spell from a young age, but struggled with learning to write and walk.  Was always better at English than Maths.  Didn't like playing tag in the playground, but loved playing pretend.  Shyness started manifesting aged around eight and didn't go away until she turned 13.

hey guys thanks for the submissions and enthusiasm! i appreciate it. i love your characters, though i need to make some quick clarifications i forgot!!!

Braith seems really cool and I like her story - is she thinking of specialising in any contest type or is she going all around? Overall it won't harm her chances in either way but it'll help me get a scope of how she'll react re: contests.

Verity

it'll be explained in the fic too, but since you're submitting characters i feel like it'll be fairer to explain what you'll be getting into beforehand and with a little better detail. or, well, fic details if you're considering.

Generally, contests will combine game and anime elements. The rules might vary based on region - the johto scene is what i'll describe first, since that's what we're starting with. the mood i'm aiming for combines aspects of the games (cool, cute, etcetc)

There's a load of contest halls. Catallia City, Goldenrod City, Ecruteak City, Olivine City, Big Town (Which'll be known by its Japanese name, Millennium Town, despite being a city), Bonitaville, Whitestone... ok, more than that but lets not get carried away

For explanation, there's going to be five winners of each entry level contest on the basis of contest typing - beauty, cool, cute, tough, clever. these guys get a ribbon. then there's the special mention's ribbon. they get one too, albeit not one with a contest type.

you still need 5 ribbons to enter the contest cup, but only one from each place. you're obliged to compete with cool pokemon if you submit cool ribbons, and you can enter with six. thus, if you want to compete with 5 cool pokemon and 1 tough pokemon, you need 5 cool ribbons. or four cool ribbons and a tough ribbon. the last slot's free.

signups for any contest close a few hours before it begins. about 2-3. you get to use that time to dress yourself up, and your pokemon too if you somehow haven't already. you pick who'll be performing as you register, but you get to choose who you battle with.

half an hour before the performance, everyone's called to gather up. the rounds consist of an appeal stage, an interview stage for those who got through that, and then the battle stage.

also i forgot to put it in the first post but you are allowed 'variations' to your pokemon to some extent. stuff like this: this, this or this. as long as your pokemon's still recognisable.

basically: changes in markings, size differing from average, etc, fine and dandy. minor details that may even include changes in moveset, idk. i feel like it'd help some for contests .

they won't be uncommon - the ones you see ingame are the 'breed standard' (excluding shinies) but.. yeah. kind of like how may's bulbasaur had a heart marking.

pokemon headcanons may also be appearing so if you want to see any of those pop up you're free to request those too since i want to include all of those too - see this as a way of me giving back after previous RP stuff didn't really get to pick up lol :c

From the age of ten, he travelled around the world with his friend, collecting badges just like any other kid. He was forced to stop for a year due to personal reasons (no matter how hard people try to pry, he refuses to disclose what those reasons were) but he eventually went back to his journey. Upon returning however, he realised that it just didn't excite him like it used to. Instead, he moved onto contests, in the hopes of finding a few more thrills there. He's only just begun, and him and his team are finding it rather difficult to get out of the trainer mindset, but they're enjoying it nonetheless.

However, when something excites, frightens, angers (etc.) him, it's usually extreme, and almost exaggerated emotion. However, it really doesn't happen too often, so he's usually just in a neutral state of mind.

Friends: Adam, Jackson and Maria (not going to draw up a huge thing about them) from back in Oldale. All 4 of them toy around with the notion of being a band, although they are more inclined to help support Myles' budding career in music.
Family: Raised by Mother and Father until age 8, raised by aunt, uncle and cousin until he ventured off. Still video calls regularly.
Childhood: Things were fine until about age 8 when Myles' home town of Lilycove (well they lived just outside) had a nasty storm and the house, (which was old and a bit unstable) ended up caving in, leaving him the only survivor, as he was sall enough to not be crushed by debris. So he ended up being moved across Hoenn to live with his aunt, uncle, and cousin in Oldale Town. At age 10, he got a torchic as his first pokemon and was taught how to play guitar by his cousin, who also taught him his style of battle. In the 10-13 year old range, he made friends with Jackson, Adam and Maria, who all combined to form a bit of a nonserious band. When Myles turned 13, he was allowed to venture off on his own to make a name for himself in the world.

Continuing from childhood, Myles became extremely interested in singing and performing. He plays a little bit for whoever asks, but he isn't good at songwriting, but his friends help out with that when they talk. Over the years he has a few badges from various regions and a couple of cool contest entry level ribbons. Myles hasn't caught many pokemon because not many catch his eye as interesting to train, but that isn't saying he just won't catch pokemon in general. Basically, Myles is a fledgling musician on the rise, but many people recognize his somewhat amount of battling skill first before his music or his contest competitions.
