Best Yellow Sprites

Pokémon Yellow has some improved sprites compared to Red/Blue.

But what are the best one?

I personally like Exeggutor's sprite!



It looks exactly like it's Gold sprite



But can I just ask this? Why are some sprite coloured brown, such as Rattata, Raticate, Porygon, Ditto, Eevee, Dratini, Starmie, Shellder, Cloyster, Magnemite and Magneton?

The limited technology at the time meant very few colors could be displayed on a single image, and the sepia color used on many sprites allowed you to get an idea of what the Pokemon looked like without giving it a single strongly defining color.

I'm quite fond of Charizard, Blastoise, Butterfree, Sandshrew, Pikachu, Nidoking, Jigglypuff, Oddish, Vileplume, Venonat, Victreebel, Golem, Rapidash, Farfetch'd, Gengar, Kingler, Rhydon, Seadra, Scyther, Articuno, Mewtwo and Mew. Yellow means a lot to me, being my first Pokemon game about 18 years ago now, so there's a lot of nostalgia there for all these sprites.

The Yellow hue was the main setting on the GBC. Red and Blue also had a matching color scheme to match their names.

Why is Vileplume completely red?

It only has two colours on it (blue and red)

It isn't. There is a Lot of yellow on top of a black sprite thaat makes it look all red. Look closer and you'll see it is a two layered sprite with black on the bottom and yellow on top. Parts of the petals indicated the Yellow overlay.
