NOW do you people see why Russell T. Davies needs to be replaced as head writer?

I agree, that is a lot of comebacks for old characters.. and not all of them welcome. As much as I love the idea of recurring characters, they appear too many times.

I prefer pre-2000 Dr. Who where you very rarely saw any reoccuring characters apart from the Doctor and his companion. I think they need to spend more of the series on the original adventuring concept rather than OVER deveoping relationships.

I saw this in the trailers for Cloverfield a few months back (had cinema showings first). The next series is looking really good. Though I am worried about Rose showing up again.. unless it ends in either the Doctor or Rose dying it could get messy. I'm really ready for a new Doctor.

David Tennant is an awesome Doctor, that's a horrible thing to say.

Im not sure about why companions are advertised. I liked the concept of, for instace, people like Mr Copper (Voyage of the Damned) joining, in that unexpected way. I know he didnt, but if he did, or that pompus rich guy did, would've made my day, instead of them being anounced as usual.

I don't know if Tennant was advertised as the Doctor before Parting of the Ways was broadcast, but that was unexpected.

Ah well, if I pray hard enough, maybe they ll bring back Romana for the 5 series as the new companion. She was quite a cool companion back in the day. :)

Well I have heard things in the past, which include Rose not actually meeting the Doctor...but with Martha and Donna...but not him...

I decided to watch 'Utopia' again today, since I decided to record the whole of the last series (Although I don't have the last one.)

I'll probably delete them all, when this series begins and record them.
Yes.

This is bit of a spoiler but THE DOCTOR IS EXTERMINATED!!!!!!!
loldongs

It's pretty much impossible, seeing as how Tennant has already confirmed that he will already be staying on for Series 5 (which airs in 2010) and the specials that are being shown on three occasions next year.

Also, we have another 3 Doctors to go through until we reach the end of the road (unless he gets an Übereward from the Gallifreyans in the form of 13 more regenerations :D)

However, people saying OMGWANTNEWDOCTOR are pretty silly, imo, because it's just bringing the programme to an end (unless of course, the reasons I explained above are deployed). I hope that it doesn't leak about Ser 3 Ep 13 during the series, because I honest to God want a surprise D: It's probably going to be Davros, but it could be somebody else.

Actully, don't we have 4 Doctors to go? He didnt regenerate into the first Doctor from nothing (Least I hope not) so that would mean he's only regenerated 9 times right?

i think he meant there will be a further 3 doctors after tennant. but yes, on his thirteenth he will meet something to make him immortal. or at least last another 40 years, rofl.

Angelic Lapras King

What I mean is:

1st Doctor to 2nd Doctor= 1st regeneration
2nd Doctor to 3rd Doctor= 2nd regeneration
3rd Doctor to 4th Doctor= 3rd regeneration
4th Doctor to 5th Doctor= 4th regeneration
5th Doctor to 6th Doctor= 5th regeneration
6th Doctor to 7th Doctor= 6th regeneration
7th Doctor to 8th Doctor= 7th regeneration
8th Doctor to 9th Doctor= 8th regeneration
9th Doctor to 10th Doctor= 9th regeneration

And each time lord has 13 regenerations right? That would mean he has 4 left right?

FaFniR

The 13 regeneration rule is old though, right? They could easily retcon it.

Yes, but then you get angry fanboys shaking fists at the writers for not being faith to the rule.

And I doubt the series can go on forever. They did kill off the rest of the Timelords (Unless they re all in Watches...), the Master, a lot of Daleks, yeah. That seems very climatic.

You are misled. The process a Time Lord goes through to change their body is called Regeneration. "A Time Lord has thirteen lives," says the Eighth Doctor.

You may be wondering why Captain Jack said, "So, this new regeneration... kinda kinky" to describe the Doctor's current form. Well, for one thing, the Doctor did actually explain to him properly so he might have improvising. Russell T Davis needs to be carefully when thing s contradict true statements (ironically, they're known as "paradoxes").
