Each to their own I suppose. It's just that, for me, Donna really got on my nerves. Then again, that's probably due to the fact that I find Catherine Tate irritating too.

Oh, and Orangutans are apes, not monkeys :tongue2:.

Ignoring all the following.. wall of text...
here's another preview clip for The Impossible Astronaut:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fz_sMJHO9VI

Aw, Donna I think is my favourite too... I think that I'm not so fond of Amy because she's very... well, yeah, she's "feisty", but that seems to be all that there is to her. Don't get me wrong, she has her moments, and Gillan isn't a bad actress [I've never seen her in anything else so can't comment with more enthusiasm, har]... but Amy just seems.. rather one-dimensional.
I started off quite liking her.. and then I got bored of her... and the way she treats Rory just makes me think she doesn't really appreciate anything as soon as something more exciting comes along. Even once she gets her parents back [and regains her memories after her wedding of what happened], she hops into the TARDIS again and is running off. Any lessons she ever seems to learn from the journeys appear to be forgotten straight away. Maybe the crack is just absorbing her experiences, herp.
Also the ending of "Flesh and Stone" creeped me out, trololol.

Maybe I liked Donna because she had all of the bossiness and suchlike, but she obviously wasn't in control of her life: her marriage failed, she could only get work temping, and even though she resolved to improve her life after meeting the Doctor she couldn't, so devoted herself to finding him, and she grounded him and talked back to him [such as the planet of the ood episode: I remember their remark about slavery, the Doctor said something from the moral high ground and she basically told him to shut it and stop acting so high and mighty].
Also, after the last two women lusting over him that made a nice change.
Really it was mostly because she didn't fancy the Doctor.

Anyway. I'm not so fond of Amy... yet.
Martha took a while to grow on me [her purpose really did seem to be "look how much the Doctor misses Rose" and.. urg.. she found her feet in the forth series I think].. as did River, and I now really quite love River [though she does annoy me at times].
So
Series 6 has yet to begin, and that shall contain a lot more Amy, and there's still time for me to warm to her.

I do like Rory, though.. currently my favourite of the three companions for Eleven.

More clips of the news series on breakfast TV today, the Doctor interrogating Amy who appears to be lying about something... though with Karen Gillans acting it's hard to tell if it's an emotion or gas. :D

Yup, I've been reading through a lot of spoilers for the new series and can't wait to see how many of them are true. Especially some of the references to the older series. Won't go into detail as spoilers would ruin it.

I quite liked Donna too BTW... might be because I have a thing for Catherine Tate though. K-9 for my favourite assitant though. Affirmative,

At least some people have the dignity to keep their issues private, unlike the scum the milk it for every glossy magazene-sourced penny.

What a shame she died, she was a decent actress.

I was not a fan of her spin off series, but she was a huge important part of the series' history and she will be missed dearly.

I had no idea she was ill either, came out of nowhere. :(

Oh my goodness, I hadn't heard about this! She was a great actress & had a lot of theatre work behind her as well as her role in Doctor Who. Rest in peace, best wishes for her family left behind.  :(
